My friend has a Dax Rush V8 and he is insured with Footman James who have a seperate kit car insurance. it cost my mate something like 240 quid fully comp

They're often EXTREMELY cheap to insure if you go to the right company's, cost for performance wise. Brother at ~21 was paying ~£200 for 6k miles a year on a sub 4 second to 60 2 litre Fisher Fury. I assume it's because people are more careful about hitting other cars when there's only a bit of plastic protecting them.
Several companies seem to charge you for e.g. a "2 litre lightweight kit" and not make a blind bit of difference if it has a tired 2ltr pinto or a 2 litre touring car engine. Adrian Flux were one, a couple of others who's names I forget, but check out the kit car mags

my Dads westy is a 2ltr pinto. To add me (18) for 4 months was £460. Daft or what. If it had been my mates 2ltr (210bhp Zetec) then that would be a bargain.
