Default Mettallic Paint

Why is it that having Mettallic paint on a car costs 300 quid, is there a technical reason, is the paint a lot more expensive or do they have to do something different to the car before painting it, or is it something they have been getting away with for years that people put up with ?

dont know if this is an urban myth or not but....... i heard that metalic pain was accidently made by iron filings being mixed with paint accidently.. et voila metallic paint.

sure spmeone will correct me if i'm wrong on that one.

if it is true then yup we're being ripped off
