I thought I'd found the perfect replacement for the Scooby. On paper it seemed that a chipped Fabia VRS was the way to go: cheaper insurance, excellent MPG, tidy handling and quick enough for real world driving.

Trouble is, I test drove a standard one and the whole experience left me cold. Great torque, much better handling than I expected (even in the wet) but it just wasn't special enough.

I'm gutted, I really thought I'd found the perfect comprimise but it's back to the drawing board
