MGTF - Problem with new rear tyres.
My sister has an MGTF, and last wekk she had 2 brand new Goodyear GSD3's fitted at the rear costing £173.
Since then, the car has been moving about and pulilng a lot on the motorway and under braking.
I've researched it, and found that if you mix Goodyear GSD2 (front) with GSD3 (rear) it causes said problems. So we reckon that is the issue here, but what can we do about it other than fit new tyres at the front, which it doesn't need???
The garage is not to blame as the tyres are fine, but they are now used so obviously they wont swap them.
Any thoughts?

Are the front tyres the same size as the rears?
If so it's worth sawpping them to the front and see how it feels then.
Also, if they are directional...make sure they are the right way round (rotation arrow pointing towards the front of the car, or "outside" stamped on the tyre wall).

Different sizes, front to rear.
Its a common problem apparently - http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/popups/tyres/GS_D3.htm

owners are also reporting handling problems when using these tyres on all four wheels
She could do the sensible thing and buy a real car!

What size wheel's 15in or 16in ?
I use Bridgestone RE720's on mine, a good all round tyre (185 front, 205 rear).
Would suggest buying a pair of 185 GSD3's for the front, that should sort the problems out.

"Don't worry she'll want rid when the head gasket goes!!"
Tell me about it, mine went at the weekend on a 3.5 year old car, how I wish I'd traded it in when I brought the Scooby .....

It's never good practice to mix tyres front to rear...
Either she needs to swap the fronts to GSD3's as well, or get the rears changed back to GSD2's, or even swap all 4, but the same tyres need to be fitted all round!

You need to get the GSD2's fitted again tbh, had many problems with these little cars and GSD3's a lot of tyre places will tell you that the GSD2's are not available anymore but they are and they are about the only tyre that suits the car.
GSD3's are not suitable at all for MGTF's and Goodyear themselves have realised this problem and keep stocks of these for dealers but they need to specifically order them from reserve stock.
Have driven two MGF's now with GSD3's and have to say that it is very unnerving under braking and very much so in the wet, garage should have IMHO swapped the tyres for GSD2's and returned the part worns back to Goodyear.
Hope this helps
