Well I was gonna happily pay £3k for it, but £4k plus is just too steep.

May try hiflow now.

Try DTW Competition Engines in Harlow Essex.. they are who we use on the scoob engines.. They WILL not be as cheap as some though.

like J4CKO said you could pick up a whole BX 16v for next to nothing.. even if you have to pay to get the car scrapped after you have taken the engine out it still wont add up to anywhere near £4000. Alternativly buy a decent car

Buy a decent car???? You cant get a better performance/trackday car than a 205

I live on a narrow street full of orrible little ankle biters and on a pub route so theres no point buying anything newer until we move next year.

As for the "buy a whole car" argument, has anyone seen how many are for sale? About 3 around the UK.

Just wondering if its possible to remove an engine on the street with a Halfords tool kit

But they are all dogs

Will need to have a think - keeping the car, and may just rip the bloody engine out myself yet if I can get some room to do it.

Speak to Andy Baker at www.abmotorsport.co.uk He specialises in 205's, although I don't think he does engine rebuilds, I am sure he will point you in the right direction to one of his contacts.

He has a Longman 1.9 GTi 8v running on throttle bodies at about 200bhp.

Engine lunched itself this morning so the rebuild is no longer an option - sounds like the shells are jangling about in teh sump somewhere now

Will update when i'm back around next week, but the only real option now is to fit a new engine myself or buy an STi
