Default Can you fit a 2l VW camper engine in a beetle

As above, I have three beetles available for spares and two campers.

Im wanting to fit the 2l in the beetle, but the look slightly different. Well as far as the cooling systems go.

Any help would be great.

Ive had a look, it seems you need a 911 cooling fan and shroud to do it though. Im not sure if anything else has to be done though.

Why not just put an aircooled 911-engine in the Beetle? I know you can fit a Porker engine in the back of a camper...

Just go the whole hog and put a scooby engine in! There was some guy who did it with his 356 replica. Sounds rather mental

Found the web site http://www.ricola.co.uk/speedindex.htm
meant to do 0-60 in 4 seconds!

Coz without a lot of modification to the rear bodywork the 911's extra 2 cylinders don't fit There is a lot more room behind the motor in a camper, or a Karmann Ghia for that matter

In answer to the original question a type 4 motor (for that is what it undoubtedly is) will bolt into a beetle, but you will need a Porsche style fan & alternator. Big Boys Toys, Volkspares, or any of the majors wil supply you with the bits needed. The best advice is to invest in a copy of Volksworld magazine & take it form there

The 2.5L N/A Legacy motor into a camper is quite a common conversion. It seem to have taken over from the old Alfa set up.
