Series II Elise
Made up my mind that I'm gonna chop my Clio Cup in for a series II Lotus Elise. Gonna have around 20k to spend on the car and been doing a bit of research latley. What I need to know is the following.
1) Out of the 'standard' cars which is better 'Race Tec' or 'Sports Tourerer' versions ??
2) Is the 111s worth the 2k more, bearing in mind the car is mainly for everyday use.
3) The 135 bhp Conversion seems to be sought after but not much cheaper than the 160 bhp 111s. Any views??
Any thoughts would be helpful.

Most S2 Elises tend to be the Sports Tourer version as they are aimed at the everyday user with extras like carpets, 4 speaker stereo, leather, etc. The Race Tech is aimed at the hardcore 'enthusiast' without the everyday comfort extras but instead have items like race style alcantara seats (which look the biz). Driving wise there isn't much to choose between them - as they are both fantastic fun - which is probably why most gererally opt for the ST.
I drove a Race Tech with 135 pack a while back and thought it was fantastic. I didn't think the extra bhp was that noticable over the standard car like the manic Sport 160 version is but I'm sure most owners are glad they opted for it
The 111s is intended to be even more everyday friendly with more padded seats and even air-con available! Haven't driven one of these but I'm sure that with 154bhp in less than 800kg I'm sure it's a lot of fun
Enjoy

Have a look on Pistonheads - there are always loads of Elises for sale and there are some very helpful guys in the Lotus section.
