Alfa 156 2.5 V6
An early one of these coming into work p/x so was thinking I might have it. Anyone had one of these? Are they still unreliable (its a 98 R) and whats the cost of a 60k service which is due?
Cheers

Ilss,
Yea - my ex-missus had an early one (on the S) - disappointed with the ride quality and lack of torque of the engine - the Alfa 2.5 is nowhere near as good as the 3.0l (had 2 - both crackers) - you need lots of revs and the fuel cons. suffers badly (nearly as bad as a stand. UK scooby). paint was also not the best, but had no major mechanicals/electricals over 36k miles.
IMHO, though, you need a good dealer for servicing etc. - and that seems to be the achilles heal of Alfas at the present time - I've been so fed up with anyone close-by that I won't get another Alfa for some while (had 6 over the years).

Do a search - I listed everything I could remember that was wrong with mine.
The warranty bill is in the teens for my car at work, everyone who owns an Alfa company car in our company has a 5 figure warranty bill after 3 years.
I would NEVER even consider buying one now.
