Which cabriolet to buy?
Hi I'm new here but have been looking for a while and thought you may be able to give me some opinions of some cars.
My aunt currently drives a 97 Ford Mondeo. Its was orginally her company car when she left the company she worked for 5 years ago and she only bought for a stop gap, but never got round to it. She has now decided the car is damaging her business image.
She would like to spend less £30k but if the right car comes up she will go upto about £45k.
Here are the choices I have thought of so far and that we have looked into;
1. Audi A4 Cabriolet 3.0 / 3.0 Quattro
2. BMW 325/330Ci
3. Mercedes CLK320 / 500 (Very overrpiced IMO)
4. Saab 93 2.0t
5. Two year old Maserati Spyder (only 2 seats though)
6. Wait for BMW 630Ci
7. Used Jaguar XK8
8. Used Lexus SC430
9. Used Mercedes CL500 - (hard top but she likes the look)
Any other suggestions and why you would choose them???

Although she would prefer 4 seats and new as possible, decent amount of power but no need for lots of power - although she likes the M3 Cab aswell!

I was going to say the 330 cab but checked the BMW site and they start at 34+K before options!!! so for that money you'd be best off getting the M3 cab

Honda S2000, accept no substitute. Quick, totally reliable, the new one rides a bit better (less skitcy than the old one), Do a deal and you can get the GT (hard top thrown in) for the price of the regular roadster. That is if you can live with the two seats.

Depends if she wants it for image or driving.
Driving - Honda S2000
Image - BMW - accept no substitute (just the badge alone is worth the money )
tiggers.

Do Not, I Repeat, Do Not buy an A4 Cabriolet.
I currently drive an A4 3.0 Litre Sport Cab, and can honestly say I wish I had saved my cash.
Read my comments on the "WOW RS4" thread.

Drive one for any length of time and you will seriously revisit your requirements for rear seats and the need to buy new.
Sublime driving experience and rock solid residuals should help you make a decision.

An oldish Roller Corniche? Easily get one at that price
I personally would go for the CL500 out of that lot, as imo, it has the best image of the lot. Nobody's got one, and in black especially, they look excellent That'd suit the image perfectly
I'd avoid the BMW 3 series, as although we all know they're supposed to be good, it's the sterotypical choice, and really not very interesting (imo, of course)
Lexus SC430 - I'm sure they're overpriced. 50 grand, a 4.3 litre V8, and they're not quick, or especially good, so I hear A second hand one on the other hand, would probably be worth a look.
I haven't driven any of them though, but that's my thoughts
