I've had mine for over a year and love it to death. Bangs for bucks it can't be beaten. 0 - 60 in 6.5 and handles really well. On a par with Civic Type R's performance wise till 100 and then the CTR will eak away very slowly. Only group 16 insurance wise and the trip computer on mine hasn't dipped below 35 Mpg ( I put about a tenner a week less in mine than my old 306 Rallye ). You can pick used examples up for 9 grand. Great Cars!!

Had mine for 8 months and it brings a smile to my face every time I drive it!
Had a 306 Rallye before the Cup (as did Rokerlad) and the Cup manages to be quicker, more fun and yet cheaper to run!?
Fuel costs are superb, I'm averaging mid 30's and getting low 40's on a run, wheras the 306 was mid/low 20's and I would be lucky to see 30mpg!
Tyres are only £50 a corner for decent rubber.
Servicing is every 12k miles or 2 years and aint expensive either.
A mate of mine has just chopped in his RB5 for a Cup as he wanted something cheaper to run that was still a fun drive.
Will be a different drive to the Scoob though, you need to have a go in one to see if you like it...

Great little cars, ive done 9000 miles in mine with no probs. Cheap on fuel, quick, and instant acceleration.
I may be looking to sell mine, so if you like the test drive let me know, have my eye on a 350Z, but difficult to justify costs of any other car after the Cup!! they're seriously good performance value.

I've been on Cliosport net and it's tempting. Save a fortune in fuel, and would get out in it more due to this, as the Evo drinks to much for the 80 mile round trip to work! Very tempting indeed. But would I miss my Lancia..................................... ...............

Excelent little cars in terms of bang per buck.....
my only critisism (and this is from a 172, not the cup but the cup will be worse) is that its so damn noisy!!!!! above 5k rpm you cannot hear yourself think!! if you can put up with that, then go for it!
Neil.

They come "on cam" at 5k rpm too, so there is a noise (& power) change at that point, but you can cruise on the motorway at below this all day long with not much noise.
I agree Cup is a little noisier at speed though...

You asked about performance in the wet. Traction can be an issue at the lights - mine likes to spin the fronts wet or dry. You can also break traction accelerating hard in 2nd and 3rd crossing over white lines in the road etc in the wet. All adds up to more fun.
Expect a nimble drive and go kart handling and you wont be disappointed. They turn in sharper and roll less than scoobs (but ride harder). They dont cover ground as effortlylessly or have quite the same mid range kick as a classic scoob - which is good cos you dont have to risk losing your licence to enjoy yourself.
Don't be too put off by Cup reliability stories theres plenty about that have been trouble free (14k and counting in mine).
Agree that engine noise levels are quite high (even coming from a scoob) above 85ish.

I went for a test drive in one, the only thing that lets it down is the interior, the seats are horrid and the driving position isn't very good. bit plasticy too.
For the money though I suppose you can't complain.

Thats the thing really, for the money, you're going to have to pay concessions somewhere, and with performance, handling, and running costs being very good, I think it was the interior that had to suffer.
Saying that, I dont think any Renault has a very nice interior, but I havent had any major issues with rattles etc as yet, though only 9000 miles old.

I've had mine for just over 3 months now and 4000 miles and it has been trouble free motoring. Got 44mpg on a run last week and average aroung 36mpg aroung town. 12000 mile or 2 years service intervals(approx £160-£180), £400 fully comp insurance, 0-60 in 6.5secs, 0-100 in 16.9secs and superb go-kart like handling puts a smile on your face every time you drive it.
Looks nice, nice colour, decent spec (got climate in mine) and all for £11,750 on the road. Can't ask for much more really. Very happy indeed.

I looked at one a while bcak, but didn't ever have a go in one... In terms of a cheaper to run car, that was still very fun, and quite new, this was top of the list. I dod look at ITR's, but they can be quite juicy and insurance is nearly scoob territory...
Id still like to have a go in one though, and if you drop them a bit, with some nice 16's, they do look tough. I did prefer the 172 to to Cup in terms of interior etc, (lack of rear headrest looked a bit cheap) but the newer Cup's have climate control now.
