Please help - 4x4 suggestions for girlfriend!
I'm trying to rack my brains and think of all the 4x4 cars my girlfriend might like, but its hard work thinking of them all
Any suggestions for a sub £15,000 car new or used that has 4x4 would be appreciated!
Note: High performance suggestions are not watch she's after
Cheers!

A Series 3 Land Rover
hmmm, just noticed you said "4x4"
well, would mentioning a Subrau be a little too obvious???
<pedantic mode=OFF>
how about a JOY MACHINE *snigger* ?

Have a look at
A Toyota Rav 4
Seriously. May not have the off road ability of a Freelander, but a much, much better bet as a day to day car.
You'll get a new 3dr for that money.
Did 50,000 miles in one as a company car with my last job and nothing went wrong.
Fun to drive, and one of the better looking 4x4's in that price bracket.

I'll second the Octavia, Had one for a year & absolutely no problems (21000 miles). You should get a good one for 11-12000 less than a year old. a £450 remap takes it from 150-220+bhp with loads more torque & better mpg. If you want the performance its then a tadge quicker than a 225 bhp TT (they hate it !!)
As an everyday car in standard form which mine was for about 6 months its a really easy vehicle to live with & the build quality is far better than I expected as was the handling. I did the Cannonball in mine last year, 3000 miles in 5 days & absolutely thrashed it, not a single thing that was Skoda made broke (I bent a couple of after market alloys) & the car didnt even develop any rattles.
Skoda are doing some absolutely stonking deals at the moment on new cars, not sure if you could get a new one for £15000 but might be worth asking the question.
Skodas are starting to become a bit of a trendy car to own in some circles, Lawrence Llewelyn whats his name off the Designer progs on TV had a Silver Octy 4x4 Estate about a year ago.
If you need any more info e-mail me on Jenkins414@aol.com

Nice car Nevitas Looking good
What's that thing you have on the roof though? Flashing blue lights?
Sorry to hijack the thread...
Second for the Defender, although a Range Rover is arguable more use every day.
Could do with knowing what she's going to use it for though

It's the latest generation of lights and has 72 differant flash patterns, much brighter than 'beacon' lights, and they last 100,000 hours.

some good suggestions
what type of 4x4 ? Just something she can drive confidently in bad weather.
As for the Freelander - its was crap. Engine, rubbish. Poor reliability.. Petrol engine was THIRSTY.
Ran it for a month, got about 2 MPG and needed one visit from the AA to replaced the rusted solenoid lead to the starter motor.
