Mitsubishi cyborg type r
Hi everybody.
Does anyone know anything about these?
I saw one in the autotrader and it has probably gone now but i was really interested in the car but have been unable to find much information about it.
its the 176 bhp mivec engine...1.6L !!! I was under the impression that the 1.6 honda crx vtec was one of the most powerful n/a 1.6 commonly available.
Is it colt? Would servicing be a nightmare?
I also tried to get some online insurance quotes but none of the sites that i went to were aware of the car....would i have to get specialist insurance for this? I guess i sort of know the answer to this one
anyway, any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks chaps
Brett

If I remember correctly it was a limited run of a few hundred maybe thousands, originally done for a one make championship in japan. like the clio sport cup here.
I dont think the championship got off the ground and they sold all the cars to normal customers.
I remember reading a mag review of the car, not my personal taste but it got a good write up. not sure about how you would keep the thing on the road with parts ect being a jap only special, might be worth checking with a mitsi specialist.

Thanks guys.
I've just been told that spares etc will be a nightmare!
A Mirage. yep thats it.
What an amazing spec though, 176bhp from a 1.6.!!
I think I will look for something a little more user friendly.
Thanks again.

It's basically a JDM Colt with a 1.6 DOHC MIVEC engine. It isn't a limited edition, so spares are easily obtained from Japan.
Compare it with a EG/EK Civic VTi, the Civic is the better car.

Back in the late 90's, Ralliart UK sold Mirage Cyborgs as well as Evo 5, Galant VR4, RVR & Pajero Evos.

I think it got pretty well pasted by the Pug in most departments in their opinion. Certainly punched below it's weight for a 170bhp hot hatch
