Default Seat Leon Cupra

I've been using a Seat Leon Cupra while my UK300 is in for some work. I was surprised these had a turbo on them. They are quite nippy, but not as quick as I thought they would be, and the turbo has hardly any lag, but is more progressive than that of the Scoob. Turn the traction control off, and the car squirms all over the place, but overall not a bad car. Wouldn't swap the Scoob for it though.

I have a Leon Cupra R 225. There is very little lag on that, and it pulls hard right through the revs. It only has 680 miles on so I havent thrashed it yet, but once its run in I will know a bit more about it !! Tried turning the TC off when it snowed. Not a good idea !!!

I know Cupramax has a LCR, and Dave-TS had one up until recently, and they both rave about them.

Cool

Speak of the devil You really cant compare a £15k Leon Cupra with an Imprezza. Both great cars, aimed at different markets though. LCR is a different kettle of fish but such a pity they wont build a 4wd one. With that and Revo it would be a beast

How much are the Cupra R's at the moment??

...and will a re-mapped Cupra 180bhp -> 220(ish) be pretty much the same car to drive as a standard R??

Cheers,
Grant

I think a LCR is 18k otr (but you can shop around and get them a little cheaper)
A Revo'd cupra will be a bit faster than a standard LCR cause the LCR weighs a bit more.
An LCR with Revo raises a few eye brows

Far too much body roll on them though!

Exclamation

Speaking of the other devil

Mrs T-S had both a Cupra then a Cupra R. R was a MUCH better car than the boggo Cupra, and we should have got that at the outset.

I was very impressed with the R, and only sold it because I wanted AWD for the winter after three previous years of Scoob ownership - so went a different route and got a Golf R32, and had it tweaked by AmD, but that's another story. (So was scalping two Caterhams with it on track at Goodwood last Saturday - VERY satisfying )

What's the reason for the lack of lag then? Is this VW/Audi's own design of a turbo?

Smaller turbo = less lag

Yeah they have a small turbo, as Neanderthal says.

Brother has a 2003 R which has been to AmD and trust me, it is plenty fast enough. Traction in third on a dry road can sometimes be an issue !

How did you reduce your lag then Tony? I'm not looking for anti lag, but something to help spool up quicker would be nice.
