Mk1 MR2s also hold the road like glue.

That is such a difficult question that people will nevr aggree on.

For example Autocar rate the MX5 as this years best handling car!!

A fine little intro to a well balanced RWD it might be, but better than the awesome Noble and better than the precision offered by a Caterham superlight or the hard edged thrills of a porker GT3 I just can't agree with.

I personnaly love the pork 968CS for its feel/predictability/ease of driving very hard for those not equipped with professional racing drivers reflexes.

However how can I say its a better handling car than say a Ferrari Enzo, the new Ford GT40 or the new Carrera GT or even the purity of something like an Atom, having never driven any of them.


So in summary I dunno, but I bet this years Ferrari F1 car must be in with a shout- can I have a play in one to make my mind up

 

Funnily enough I reckon most [all] of us would find the Ferrari F1 car would handle like crap! We would never be able to drive it hard enough to make it work properly, let alone warm the tyres up!

RX7 is proper bo if u can fit yer legs in lol. Wont even mention a supra if were talking about shifting lots of weight round easily

Its not a Supra but its not that bad either, for how heavy it is I think you'd be amazed at how well handles, a few passengers in mine have even said so - some scooby drivers

From personal experience.

E30 BMW's have been my favourites. 325i Sport. M3.

Also E28 (i think) M5's are pretty good handlers.

 

Noble M12?

 

I think autocar only picked the MX5 as the best handling car as it was the only one they could afford to give away as a prize...

your damn straight there have been! I've got the RLTC on but even that can't help the tyres which are worse than ZZ1's They're coming off next week for Eagles......

 

I always thought the 200sx handled well. Probably not the best, but very predictable.

lol Jap rubber LURVLY is it? a dealer mentioned he didnt think Jap rubber was as bad as everyone made on & wasnt sure if it kud also be carp alignment etc.........

Nah mate - the place I bought it from replaced the Jap rubber with this cr4p no-one has ever heard of. Was speaking to a chappy who works in the tyre industry the other day and he said they were ultra budget, not at all suited to high performance use, and he would never recommend them...... Ultra hard compound so not much grip at all, and almost impossible to wear out!

Hence sticking the eagles on!

 

Gotta be Caterham/Westfields

 

E30 M3 or E39 M5. Both fantastically balanced cars.

Would agree with Carl that the Noble M12 is widely regarded as the most sorted RWD car on the market at the moment.

That Lotus tuned Lada ala Clarkson on Topgear. Lotus reputedly spent £100k modding it.

 

XTR2 is pretty good

Loved the Caterham Superlight too.

Not got too much experience of any more.

Off to spend some time in a lotus at bruntingthorpe tomorrow - not really driven one before so should be fun.

I would say dingys mk2 escort was a good handling car - have you ever seen dingy get out of it without him grinning
