Interested in more information about these 2:

Civic Type R - 1996-2000 shape
Integra Type R - 1998-2000 shape

Opinions of both from Scoobynet users would be good and current/previous owners would be even better!!

What the standard drive like on both?

The Civic has only got a 1.6 engine, does this show on the road compared to the bigger ITR 1.8 unit?

What the potential for modifying these cars?

I've owned an Integra Type R, not as quick as a scooby (mine was a version 5 Type RA), but once it was going then the fun factor was higher, very well balanced car.

If your after a true normally aspirated drivers car then the Integra is great and very good value for money, I can't see them depreciating much more.

The engines appear to be bullet proof and with a good exhaust system you will be looking at over 200BHP. I really do miss mine.

The Integra is meant to be a better car than the Civic as it has the LSD. I'm not sure the Civic is a 1.6 though.

Er, Civic Type R was brought out in 2002 I think and is definately a 2litre VTEC.

Earlier civics were available in 1.6 / 1.8 VTEC variety, but not badged a type R.

The hottest of all hot hatches.....the EK9 CTR....182bhp from a N/A 1.6 litre.

Revtastic.

TypeR on here used to have (may still have ) an import Civic TypeR circ '98.

Seen it go round Donington a couple of times and that thing absolutely flew Looked nice as well

He's your best bet for info if you can get hold of him cos he tweaked his a little, and drove it a little too

Still live the looks of the ITR, but a sub 6 second 0-60 of this older CTR seems inviting!

No I didn't in the end. Kept the Scoob a bit longer

Still like them though. If you watch any of them videos they do seem quite loony

Like you, I like the Teg as well though I think Andy Tang on here had one a short while (like most of his cars!) so he might be able to give you some info no them.

Here's my thoughts.

Went from a MY99uk scoob turbo to a MY2000 Integra R

Cracking car.

Cheap to run, cheap to service, 100% reliable.

And DON'T listen to any illeducated halfwit come on this thread and say they are "gutless" below 5000 rpm...LOL>...

I too am now driving a 2000 ITR having driven Scoobs for 6 years before this. I bought it as a stopgap after some drunken **** killed my Lotus and my company Scoob went back when I left said company.

Well that was a year ago and I've still got it so that must tell you something. If you read Diablo's post on the two cars you'll find out all you need to know, my findings are nearly identical.

The only thing I would really add is that the Honda feels absolutely bulletproof - you can thrash it all day and it never misses a beat - pretty good for an engine who's red line is somewhere near 9000rpm. Apparently Honda have never had a VTEC failure - not something BMW can say is it?

Ah Tiggers, you never miss an opportunity for a dig at those BMW owners

Anyway another 2000 Teg over here, agree with the comments above, I considered this car along with a Cup on here a few months ago, went for the Teg and haven't regretted it since, totally trouble free motoring to date, although the tyres seem to have worn pretty quickly, but thats down to the nature of the way with which you feel it needs to be driven, its a pretty focused drivers car.
Its a little compromised inside for weight savings, but the bits that matter are there, titanium gear **** with nice short shift,nice momo wheel giving very good steering feel, and the Recaro seats are great. Not to mention the chassis and engine, proper old skool Vtec, non of this mellowed down ivtec nonsense , but as has been mentioned have a read of Diablo's review of this car, if your considering buying one its very informative and quite correct.

Can't say to much on the EK9 CTR, but when I considered one I read a couple of reviews which although very entertaining were only OK, and each one always pointed to the ITR as been the preferred choice even though it wasn't actually been tested, also the Teg seemed to offer better value for money when it came to used values, as the CTR's total rarity seems to keep prices very high.

I have a 1.8VTI civic, used to do some event work for Honda Cars UK and remember chatting with some technical folk regarding the VTEC, it is a simple system just a relay operates it, it literally pulls a pin at the end of the cam and heh presto, virtually nothing to go wrong. they reconed the VTEC engines where good for 200K without requiring work if serviced regularly and also they developed more power and more economical the older they got.

I have a 1.8 Aerodeck it looks understated and ignored by the cops and scum thieves. It has 178BHP, LSD and all the toys and handles well. It is a cracking mota.

Speaking with those in the know.....Litchfields are the better company to deal with compared to Warrenders.....as you mentioned Warrenders are very expensive.

Hopefully I`ll be making a DC5 purchase from Litchfields in the near future, to replace my DC2.

Paul Habgood, never knew the 1.8 VTi had LSD, I also thought it has 167 hp (have u modded urs?)
