My other half in her infinate wisdom has decided that she has had enough of her current car (1998 Audi A4 TDi) and has decided she wants a toy.

Must haves include

2 seats
leather
convertable/roof off type thing
It is likely to do upto 15k a year quite a bit on quick A roads the remainder on motorways

Basically after a straight swap value wise for the Audi so any suggestions?

Kev

If people are willing to give me 12-15K for the audi then I will personally come and fully valet the car on a weekly basis for you.

I think the Audi is worth in the region of 7.5 - 8 K, therefore that is the money available for a 'new' motor

In that case Kev, you`re looking at........

MGF
MX5
Fiat Barchetta
Mk 1/2 MR2
Possibly an E30 Cabriolet.

Personally, I`d go for an MX5, nice enough to drive, loads about so lots to choose from, cheap to run etc.

I agree

MX5

Lots around good choice of colours Loads have leather
Great handling fun and vice free
Very reliable
Good resale
Quite quick 1.8 has 146 bhp
Adequate boot for a two seater.
Cable of handling high mileages no problem (it's a mazda )

The MX-5 is what I thought as the MG-f is a bit poo and has poor suspension, the barchetta is left hand drive (she can't drive a RHD very well). I couldn't think of any other cars in the same league.

MX-5 shopping this weekend then.

Kev, I`ve just been looking on the Top Marques site (Yes, I`m bored) and when it comes to MX-5`s the world is your oyster,eg....

1997 MX-5 Harvard, 1.8i 45,000 miles, leather, 7195 quid.

There are loads around, it`s www.topmarques.co.uk if you`re interested, sorry, but I`m too stupid to make it clicky!

Good Luck.

My 'other half' has recently bought an S reg MX5 which is the facelift version and is the 1.8 140bhp model. It came with the removable hard top and full leather and she got it for &8800 i think.. I have driven it a couple of times and it handles realy well and has a bit of poke to it.. I would recomend one of these cars for your bird, she could do a lot worse.

just my 2p worth

cheers

Boyner
