Lancia Delta Integrale - advice needed

Thinking of getting one of these to replace my S13 200SX,
Not the evo, just the 16V seen them for £3.5-£6K, what should I pay for a good one?
opinions anyone?
I've always wanted one, LHD not a problem, think they look hard as nails.
Thanks in advance

AA, you've seen all the previous Integrale threads? Especially about their running costs, fragility and so on? Have a look in search before commiting yourself - they're great on the outside, but you'll need deep pockets on the inside to keep one on the road.
But to answer the question - as much as you can afford. £6k should get you a really well looked after 16v. Personally i'd avoid *anything* modified/rallied/crash repaired/cheap - then they're more trouble than they're worth. Awesome cars when they're working right though.

They are hard as nails!
But this is a true Italian supercar, not just a hot hatch. Buy a lemon and it can be very expensive to put right. Anything over £4k is way expensive for a non-Evo. Check out evocars.com for a buying guide and visit the delphi evoforum (where I usually live). Whatever you buy, get it checked by a specialist (and I don't mean the RAC - they're as good as useless with something like this), or take along someone who owns one or knows what they are talking about (and I don't mean a pub bul****ter). And they need proper maintenance. Budget for £2k a year. I mean it. But get a good 'un and you will never want to part with it.

Thanks for the replies so far, I'm not afraid of running costs etc, I know they will be more expensive than my 200 to run (its italian after all)
I want a standard one, been down the modifying route with my 200 and I'm bored of it now, its a second car/toy really, I use a van for work and have a knackered old polo for running around in.
Its a choice between one of these or a URQuattro, both cars I've aspired to own for a long time

Hi
I own a 16 valve integrale and have done for over 4 years now and don't want to sell it but one day it will have to go. They are not as fragile as some stories report but you must get one with a 16 valve engine. Cam belts need changing every 25,000 miles and sometimes the tensioners but the costs aren't that bad.
What do you want to know about them?
Paul

Hi Paul
I'm looking for a 16V one, can't stretch to an evo unfortunatly
Just general things really, I've read all the horror stories about things which go wrong, and most of the buying guides etc.
Are they reliable? (relatively) Where to get them serviced? Don't know of anyone in my area who fixes them, there is a place in n.yorks but heard mixed reviews about them.
Someone mentioned £2k a year to run one, is this about right? I'll probably do less than 6K miles a year in it.
I told my dad and he said I must be mad for even considering one !
I think they are the dogs bocks, only driven one for about 5 miles but wow!
My heart says 'Grale but my head says Quattro!
Just want a little convincing that's all

ahhhh.....'grale madness!!! They are awesome cars!!
Got a 16v Integrale in my garage at the moment.
Some of the stories you hear are true unfortunately in my experience....they can be very tempremental (as I have discovered) and quite expensive to keep running.....but when they are working right......WOOHOO!!!!! Can't get the grin off your face for days!

Forgot to add...... the parts you hear about getting a good one are soooo true! If you do get one make sure it is a good one because otherwise they can be real hassle. There are loads of them about so take the time and look for a gem!
p.s. I don't think you will regret buying one!

Hi
Running costs I am not sure of because I haven't done many miles in mine
Parts are available from your Fiat dealer and you can get second hand parts very easily.
You just need to look about and find the best you can, Mine has only got 38,000 miles from new on it
Look out for stuff such as rust and crash damage etc, like you I wanted a quattro too but they would be far heavier and not as much fun to drive. With the 16 valve 'grale you can get proper rally slides and no-one really knows what it is unlike with a cossie etc.
You will always hear mixed views about different dealers but Walkers up your way sound good from what I have heard.
Any more questions?

From what I have heard of Walkers there workmanship isn't great, and they take advantage of there status as officially appointed Lancia dealers by being very expensive, and yes they do not go down well at all on the Delphi forum which is the place to be for all things Integrale.
I would recommend Presto Car in Sawley near Clitheroe and not far off the M6 as a reputable Integrale specialist in the North of England. They have been working on Integrales since the start of manufacture and have a vast amount of knowledge and experience with these cars, they will also inspect a car for you prior to you buying.

Been to J Whalleys a couple of times in the past , seem ok from experience , they're in Bishops Stortford in Essex & do have a website.I've had my Grale now for 7 years , well my bruv looks after it more now as I got a scoob about 4 years ago.
Picture of my Integrale is in the Members Gallery at the mo if you fancy seeing it. Under Grale Madness I think.
Good luck if you do go for one , shame the Japanese didn't buy out Lancia , the Grale chic with Jap reliability , I'd certainly of got another.
