i have been told of a signal green rs2000.

apparently it is one of the first ones.

it has no mot. i have not been told how much the fella wants for it. i am interested in buying it for a restoration/classic purposes.

anyone got a scooby do what something like that is worth. i have not seen the car, but i know that they are getting rare now. can one still pick this sort of thing up cheaply??

weava

ps: tried to get on the rs owners bbs - is it constantly full or something?

i have no details.

the car belongs to an employees brother. he has been into them for years, he also grasstracks etc.

i should imagine it is average - the fact that is has no mot suggests work.

so long as the shell is good, that is all i am really worried about.

engines, lets face it are not a problem to build if needs be. i would be looking to tune it heavily.

needs a straight shell primarily.

Go and have a look at it. It will be interesting to see what the guy wants for it. A good place to look is classic ford magazine (take the p!ss scooby owners ), I read that every month and it has good articles in there and you can check the prices in the back. Where are you from?

Black recaro/fishnet seats and interior better than beige.

I think some of the earlier cars came with a vinyl roof?

I thought the interior should be black roll top recaros on the early ones, an easy way to tell if it's an early one and still genuine is that the early ones had FORD written across the front grill instead of a ford badge. I will try and dig up pictures

Be back soon

Prices vary so much. All depends on condition, custom/non-custom etc

I'd say from 700 to 7000 from a rotter to a concours show car.
GRP 4 escorts fetch about 7000-25000 depending on spec....

thanks paul, very useful.

i am told that the particular interior in this one is a rare brown one??

i think the guy knows his onions - but who knows?
regards group 4 escorts dingy, my father and uncle had several rs1800's that they used in many national and international events. theirs was works spec - would be worth a fortune now. <sigh>

that is why i love rear drive scorts so much!

My mate has a black custom (T or V plate IIRC) - all 100% original - keeps getting Sierra Cosworth owners trying to swap for it LOL - no chance. He say's it's worth around £5000 - not mint but very good.

Remember reading that Car & Mechanic (or summink like that) did a comparison test with an RS2000, firstly without the custom pointy nose, and then with.

At 100mph they put the thing in neutral and measured how long it took to slow to 90mph...

Without the custom nose it took 1 second to loose 10mph

With the pointy nose, it took ten seconds to scrub that sort of speed!

Old skool bodykits rule OK.

My cousin had a Custom, in white with the roll-tops. Personally I blame him and that car for my addiction to RWD, wet roundabouts and second gear.

the idea of such useable power is great. i mean they ain't hugely powerful, but what a drivers car!

Depends on what work is needed to be honest. I want one of these too. I think that colour may be rare and sought after though. Prices range from £1200 for a sh!tter but MOTed up to about £5000 for a show condition. Do you have any details of the car? Mail offline if you like.

Interior in brown is rare, but to be honest not sure it makes it worth more as its not very nice.

The older ones are none custom, roll-top recaro's and slightly different bits, such as ford badge on front anf back.

I don't think its makes that much difference on the price, i have never had a custom, always had none custom. Mine at the moment was like the top one in signal yellow, with the nose cone... its now a white grp4 flat front....

WOrks cars are worth a fortune........20-70k

that is a beauty paul i am green!

starting to think i won't be able to afford one, as i don't want a rotter. this one i purported to be pretty good - may be out of my range.

need a project though! want something i can work on as scooby is too complex and i can't have it off the raod for any length of time.

i have a 205 gti still, but a mate is borrowing it until further notice. i would do that, but also want a rear driver and a "true" classic. although i do not contest the 205 as a classic - there are classics and there are "classics"

Stick with it and find out how much he wants. You know it will be worth it. On the other hand how about this
