Scooby or M3?
#1
This is a late night drunken discussion about two cars which are a potential purchase for a muppet. (Not me )
I say go for the M3 cos scoobs are just not fecking reliable - chocolate engines, but very yummy.
Having had a scoob I would deffo go for the M3 no hesitation especially as I am a massive fan of RWD.
What do you lot think?

I went from a Scooby to an E36 M3 and don't regret it one bit.
Love it in fact. Half a McLaren F1 Engine according to a BMW Technician and when on full chat I reckon it sounds better than the Scooby flat four.
Drive one you will be impressed. Round town is a pleasure to drive and then once on a decent B Road you can really give it some and if a rwd king can really take it to the limit and beyond (Me not being one)
Only draw back is everybody thinks you are a w##ker and gives you abuse....car gets spat on and also every nova/saxo boy tries to race you..

Two very, very different cars and huge price difference for what you get. If you want a tourer get the M3- if you want rear wheel drive thrills get the M3
If you want to spend less cash then get the scoob- it will outdrive the M3 (unless the driver is skilled and few are) on most roads. A good example of this was on my recent trip to the UK - I realised that an *** in an E36 M3 was trying to race me down the A27- he outbraked me (actually I was breaking gently cos I was 3 up with my grandparents!) into a roundabout nr Chichester- but unfortunately for him he also outbraked himself and had a major sideways moment as I passed him on the inside of the roundabout! He was less than happy and then proceeded to try and race me off at every set of lights that followed. Much to his annoyance (it was wet!!!!) I just left him for dead and I wasnt even trying- it was good fun watching his car snake around trying to get the power down though.
As for reliability un-modded scoobs are pretty damn reliable just as highly tuned Beemers tend to be less reliable than their standard counterparts.
Whichever you choose its going to be good- let's face it were not talking mondeo or vectra here!

I have owned an M3 3.2l in the past; it's slow. I sold it and got an Evo. Now if you want a nice looking car, go for the M3. Just dont expect it to feel fast. It broke the gearbox and final drive holding plate at 30,000 miles btw.
