Focus ST170 Drivers...
TomM what colour was the ST170, I had some tosser doing the same when approaching a busy junction (somewhere in Surrey), it wasn't like I could have gone any faster.
I have driven the ST170 and after reading the road tests in evo and other mags I thought it would be pretty good, but its the most disappointing hot hatch I've ever driven. Bloody slow, feels like 150bhp tops if that. And sounds crap.
Incidentally you can pick these up from Euro car imports for £12,700 now (they've just lopped another grand off).

The one that was driving like a tosser was that grey that they all seem to be in, like gunmetal, and he looked about 25ish, he only glanced over once when I was giving him the ****** sign!
And Co55ie matey, Iam sure your 6000bhp Cossie would do my car, but I dont have a Scooby, Ive got an M3 - which I know you love
So it isnt really fare to say this guy was messing wth a car in its own class eh!, M3 vs ST170 mmmmmm
I dont mean to generalise so I apologise to all te people who drive these that dont drive like all RS owners
, this guy was a **** though - end of!

I had one sitting an inch of my bumper this morning, and then driving like a complete clown just to get passed me, undertaking, cutting people up, last minute lane jumps - ****.
Ford have done a silly thing here by making these people think they have fast cars, 170bhp is frankly pathetic, cant belive this guy was even trying when I have over 100bhp more on tap as standard, even my old 1990 Cav GSI was running 186bhp!!!
Focus ST170 drivers - stop it and get a decent car before trying to play with the bigger boys. Get the RS if you want to remotely have a chance in a ford (except yours of course Co55ie

I tested one before they where on sale to the GP. I do some work for Jag at Halewood here in Liverpool. Ford had a couple on on site they where testing/ruinning in.
My contact was full of praise for them, till i let him drive you Honda CTR. "Oh ****" he said on return, that will kill a ST dead!
If you look at how many (Not many infact) Ford have sold i think you will see them dropped from the line up. On a Good day a CTR can almost match an RS Turbo Focus. The Honda is better built and a lot cheaper as well. Don't forget you won't get anything like the price for you trade in for an RS as you would for a Honda CTR.
And don't belive Ford when they talk about 4,500 production run. I hear its already been scaled back (Like the Puma racing).
For the Moment, the Honda CTR is THE Hot Hatch, just ask Tiff
Cheers

Mega,
Where did you hear about scaled back production??
I have a deposit down (flame suit on) and am fairly well informed with regards RS production. I have not heard anything about reduced production, quite the opposite in fact. The latest rumour I have heard is the possibility of higher spec'd models in colours other than Imperial Blue - pure rumour I must add.
I must admit at current production rate most owners will be lucky to get their car before the new model Focus is launched
.

Dont worry about it, i think they just wanted to get to the dealer quickly to have the 3 faults they have on recall for the ST170 (or the brakes have already failed as its one of the things its recalled for
)
