Autodelta - Alfa Tuners

Question

After the scoob I got an Alfa 156 2.0 TS Veloche - nice car but seriously lacking in performance. I noticed in another thread someone mentioned Autodelta (Alfa Tuners) does anyone have any experiance of them???

yep,i've had a carbon airbox,exhaust,remap,springs and dampers,kaser geometry set and strut brace of 'em,and it has transformed the car.Lovely sound and the performance gain has been significant.

There aren't that many Alfa tuners about to be honest,and Janos at Autodelta is one of the few that has the techy data to do remaps as opposed to just changing chips.

the remap he did on mine is the dogs bollox.Revs to 7500 as well helps,particularly when mullering Scobbys.

Thanks for the info....may I ask a few more questions.....

What model is the car you have had modified??

How big a performance gain was there??

Did having the chip re-programmed have any negative side? (fuel economy, rough running etc?

Did you (and do you still) think highly of Autodelta?

How much did it cost you? (if you dont mind me asking)

Autodelta website very good,and their power claims don't seem as wild as some.I haven't got a dyno plot or been on a rr,so don't know.I just tuned the car to what i felt it required.I have a 3 dr 2ltr 147 manual.Brakes,a tad overservoed and at speed pretty good but hard,so put on race pads,steel hoses,new fluid and uprated discs.Suspension better than many hatches,but car sits to high on 17s and car jitters over rough ground,possibly due to unsprung weight,but I'not an expert,obviously,so got 45mm lower springs and replaced dampers with Novetec sports dampers (problem sloved,well planted).Exhaust,carbon airbox and remap the only engine mods.Also had geometry laser aligned and put strut brace on to hold it together.I'm very pleased with the results.With decent oil,optimax and octane booster it will be between 170 and 180 bhp.

And the car feels much faster,thanks to higher revs,7500,very useful on first track day,and torque increased lower down also big plus.Fuel consumption not really changed and Ive had absolutley no problems.Janos,the tuner,is a top bloke,is very helpful,and if anything did go wrong I have absolutley no doubt he would sort it.
Whole lot costs about £3100,inc vat and fitting.

Car is great anyway,would ideally like Brembos which he does very competetively btw,and cam kit,but together they would be another £3300,which I wont spend on this car.

On track the car left a T5 and a Fiat Coupe turbo,but that could have been a fluke .And it corners like a limpet.

Spoke to Janos and the rest of the AutoDelta guys quite a few times over the years while owning Alfas. Never actually went to them for work (cause I was young and skint), but they always gave good advice and for free and always got me parts I needed, or knew someone who could help.

Everyone I know who have had work done by them have been more than happy with the work and service.

I remember Janos taking me for a spin in their first turbo converted black GTV (years ago). It was a work of art and went like stink. Did such a good job, and all the electric worked as well

Recommended.
