Does anyone have knowledge as to potential pitfalls in considering a left to right hand drive porsche 993 C2s conversion (done by porsche)? The car looks exactly like a turbo 4S and seems very good value if the conversion has not ruined the driveability.

I am looking at one tonight, but cannot find any info on the web describing if this is a good/bad idea.

thanks

Well, if its been done by Porsche, can't see it being shoddy. Go for it mate, i'm insanely jealous.

So the 348 wasn't your cup of tea?
Interested in your views on it.

Hi Rich,

On the 348 - I was a little concerned about
a/ reliability (ie if things go wrong, BIG bills). I did some research and found out several horror stories - all with cars within my budget

b/ it seems I am an insurance liability with one of these, despite having full no claims and one sp30 from 3 years ago. 3x the cost of insuring a P1!

c/ I drove one and it did little for me other than the feeling of driving a ferrari

The Porsche was always a consideration as they do not break and can be left on London streets, plus are 'easy' to sell. Check out www.lesr1.btinternet.co.uk for pics of the car in question, then I'll tell you why I am not now going to look at it anymore subsequent to conversations earlier today....

my guess is that it wasn't a 993 but an earlier model dressed to look like one. I am right?

No - it's a 94 993 C2s that has had a left to right conversion, still has a few electrical gremlins to sort out, has done 80k and his wife has scratched the rear bumper. That's the reason for him only wanting 25k

I guess the pics just seduced me - it's not a sensible buy for so many reasons.

A good source of private 911's is "911 and Porsche World" magazine
have a look at their ad section here http://www.chpltd.com/test/shop/pors...lass_intro.htm

Which Porker do you have Mark? I'm gradually being seduced by the dark side (thought I'd replace the Scoob with an STi, then thought "hang on, why have the same(ish) car again when I can have a different one?"
