Out with the 335i and in with the 220i
After 3 years of most-pleasurable motoring, I recently chopped in my 335i Touring for a nearly-new 220i Coupé from March 2015. To cut a long and unpleasant story short, the simple fact is it became a magnet for thieves.
So 180 horses instead of 300 and now only 2 doors instead of a practical Touring body. I miss the 6 cylinder engine and exhaust note. But on the upside the 220i looks much better and has a wider track so that it steers like it is on rails. The boot is only 390 litres down from 450 lites but I solved this by losing a lot of weight and downsizing my clothes too!

335i touring was a magnet for thieves??? I would think a brand new BMW 2 series would be more of a target. A lot of new cars are being stolen near me at the moment, nothing safe anymore unless you have a garage and loads of other security devices!!!

Thanks guys. After a GPS tracker was placed under the car and a subsequent attempted theft, the 335i had to go.
After a few thousand miles I've grown to love the handsome coupé and find myself frequently looking back to admire it. Drove back from London via Dunkirk yesterday and stepped out of the car feeling totally fresh. The smiles per corner it delivers are also still going and it'll go a bit sideways on damp roundabouts without the traction control interfering 😎. Could do with some more power of course, but that's something for when the warranty runs out in 22 months time..

BMW use that 2.0L lump in many of there cars now.
220i
428i 260bhp
Mini John cooper works. 231bhp
They have lots of potential for mapping. The mini can go to 310 with a simple remap (manual only) auto is limited to 290 due to torque limiter on auto box.
I'm tempted but at present I'm resisting as its enough for now.

. Pretty sure one day I'll own a BMW touring. That coupe does look very smart indeed.
