Default Ford fiesta revving high on idle

As per title, I have a mk6 Fiesta 1.4 LX that I have bought for my son to have for his first car. On idle it is sitting at about 1200rpm. If I put a/c on or rear de mister it makes no difference but if I put the heated front screen on the revs drop down to about 700rpm. Any ideas folks?

I bought one of those for the wife as a first car recently. Bought it with a similar fault, high idle but also would stall when cold. Turn the key, start and then immediately stop.

There's a small black rubber hose down beside the throttle body that goes to a crank case breather valve, it was split along its length. You should check yours.

Very common fault with these cars. It's not the easiest to get at, you'll need to take a few parts off to get to it. About half an hour I spent from start to finish and the car is perfect now.

Total cost of car and repair £360

As Piehole says: Common problem...listen for hissing...as that's where the air leak will be.
