Default My new C63 - well new to me

Had it about 2 weeks now.
Makes a fantastic noise, especially from a cold start.
Suspect the neighbours will tire of it, luckily they're on holidays at the minute.

Different league to the CLK55 I had previously.

Sound taster from some other nutter.

Cheers folks.

Childish it may be, but it puts a grin on my face every morning.

The burbling noise it makes kind of reminds my of my STI days, only just a much more angrier burble

More details! I'm torn between one of these and an R35.

What do you wish to know?

I had the CLK55 previously, it was a nice car, went very well, but no comparison to the C63.

The C63 puts a smile on my face everytime I start it, but especially from a cold start, its pretty quiet driving normally, but very loud when you send it on.
Insurance, well no real difference to the CLK55, current policy isn't due until December, and it cost me £44 to change the policy to the C63.

Driving around normally, i.e. lets say the commute to work.
the 55 averaged 18mpg, the 63 seems to average just over 24!
I'm not bothered on mpg, but just saying.

Its got 4 doors obviously, the previous coupe was a bit of a pain at times having to get out to let people in/out of the back.
The suspension is pretty firm, but not uncomfortably firm.
Driving around in comfort mode is grand, sport is just nuts.
Flappy paddles, haven't used them, don't see the point personally.
Handling is superb, sharp at directional changes.
Either turn off traction control at your peril, or call 999 and tell them where they can find you

Interior is nice, the leather is fabulous, great sound system, but you do find yourself listening to that fantastic engine and exhaust note

Yeah I know.
It certainly draws attention, especially as there are no 6.3 badges anywhere on the outside.

Apart from the thirst and the fact it's longer than most parking spaces it's actual a pleasure to drive daily. Very comfortable and has all the toys you could need, although sat nav was a option. Massive inside, great for long journeys, if you can afford the fuel.

There are a few technical niggles, the rear LED light clusters can suffer from a intermittent rapid flash fault in the cold weather, if you can live with it the problem resolves itself when the warmer weather turns. There's many threads about it but in short it's to do with Holden going from standard bulbs to LEDs and the resistance or lack of in the cold weather in the wiring that the ecu sees. In fact the only real problems are electrical related, reports of the centre console gauges doing ramdom things also are known.

All in all I rather enjoyed it. Get plenty of attention (if you like it or not) being that you don't see many, coupled with the noise. Traction control was not amazing, even on you can easily get some slip. Switch off and it's rather interesting

Tires and brakes are not cheap also. Set of front brakes (oem) are around £1000 a set.

Glad I had the chance to own one though. And yes you can find some for 15k but IMO if I was to do it again I would go for the bathurst S

Neighbour had one for a while, they are indeed very loud from a cold start. Sound superb!

Makes me wonder how BMW make their V8 sound so weak really.

Even more odd as the V8 in the X5/6 sounds awesome.

The noise when you give it a large helping of throttle is even better, plus the thing just keeps on pulling, doesn't back off. Plus even after you've decided to calm down, it think you still want to play and has itself on heightened alert.
All in all I love it, and I think its just mental.
6.3 (well 6.2 really) in a C class Mercedes - the Germans are mad!

Nearly swapped my MY05 JDM STI for a C55 AMG last week. The C63 must be awesome. Steve.

My favourite sounding standard car (that I could actually afford). I love the fact it just growls from low revs and the upshift sound is immense. I was very tempted but could not justify the running costs and read about some issues with the 6.2 which meant I would not want to own one without a warranty.

I could not believe you get 15 mins in one of these (as a passenger) at MB world brooklands for £15. Must cost more than that in fuel lol.

If you want more power, this engine in many trims is a bit unusual for normally aspirated in that it tunes as well as many turbo engines. I gather the throttles are partly closed on the standard tune.
