Default A45 Remapped and gearBox remap

Ok so a few Mappers have tuning boxes for the A45

Rebellion (404BHP )
RennTech ( 414BHP) 361 AWHP
Brabus (400BHP)

Brabus was charging 2300, but have now risen it to 4000, this keeps the warranty but totally in my view takes the ****.

Renntechs is good but still over 1500 quid.

Rebellion is £900 and the TCU ( Gearbox Mod )is about £750.
So one of the guys tested it and the results are in the Video, not too bad if I say for a simple remap.

I doubt I,ll do it till at least 6 months, but lets see

He used 95Ron and a bottle of some additive, as he lives in some backwater somewhere.

The gearbox map should be done part of the map, really ***** me off when folk try charge for this separately, the vag dsg is the same, some people want to charge for it and some have it all in.

I dunno I didn't even know these things had programmes, but I do know AMG keep releasing new updates for both engine and gearbox.

How do we have Stage I modded hot-hatches running 100mph in under 9 seconds and the 1/4 in the 11s????

I remember being 21 and thinking I was the man in my VTS because it could do 0-100mph in about 20 seconds. I also remember getting my Impreza at 23 (0-100mph in 13s) and commenting to a friend the first time I opened it up that it was madness to have such speed at power in my early 20s. It makes me wonder, in 10 years time will <25 year old drivers be picking up <10s (0-100) cars and hooning around in them. Surely they will simply get themselves killed!

Gotta say when I watched fast and furious one, when via diesel says to walker you owe me a 10 second car, I thought he got away with that, but if you think about it 10 second cars cost or must cost a few quid to get there... From a. Simple remap 3.7 I thought was OK, they do a stage 2 but that involves bigger turbo, and im getting into the realms of where I don't normally go...3.7 is enough to scare most things, I,ll just hide when a gtr goes by

Littleted,

Look up MSL Performance in Birmingham. Acid who runs the show there is well into tuning his AMGs (he tuned my TCU). He has a map for the A45 which is impressive and I bet it won't break the bank either.

Just as a footnote on most AMGs the TCU and the ECU are physically separate items which is presumably why they can and are tuned separately and as you can have one without the other there are separate prices.

My car has a TCU tune and s/c pulley done at MSL, but the ECU map was done by DMS Automotive.

I can't believe how expensive it is for a remap. I guess I'm out of touch with these high-end cars. I'm more than happy to £500 for a quality remap, but not ******* £2000 odd. More money than sense IMO; isn't it fast enough already?

To be fair some of the reason is that there are far less maps done on these cars than, say, Subarus so the time spent researching and developing the maps is amortised over a much smaller number of vehicles than for more frequently mapped marques and models.

There is of course a bit of AMG price loading in that as well. The marque is more expensive so so are the accessories and after market items, but that's branding for you.

You will also quite often find these companies do group buys on tuning days and the likes which make the prices a lot less.

My TCU tune cost £250, my s/c pulley £600 and my map £1100, but the map price includes the guy from DMS driving from Hampshire to my place in Manchester and spending the day tuning and mapping the car before driving home AND comes with a lifetime re-map meaning if I add any more components to the car like headers or a bigger throttle body they will remap the car free of charge.

Not bad really in the grand scheme of things!

You won't go wrong with Acid and MSL, they are building up an immense reputation in the AMG tuning world. Check out some of their stuff on YouTube and the AMG section of the MB Club forum.

To be fair the A45 is in a different league in every respect to a Saxo. Not many could afford one in their early 20s.

Yeah, but it sets the tone for things to come and in 10-15 years time they will be affordable to youngsters.

Not sure about that. I remember going to the cinema as a boy to see Back to the Future II and looking forward to having a hover board in 2015. We are a year out and it's not looking good

Well one of the guys on the forum from Scotland has been tinkering and has the stock turbo maxed out at 475 bhp...

Rumour has it the stock engine can take 600plus but the gearbox is where the weakness lies, 500 ish

Wondering if the stock engine or the MoTeC installation has EGT and turbo speed sensors? If not, it would be interesting to see how long the turbo lasts, never mind the rest of the package. Recent Scottish weather is not extreme enough in either direction to even consider the reliability of 475BHP, risk of overspeed or cracked pistons/bent rods are potentially just a change in weather away.

Ted, how are you finding the car in general? I think the gla version looks quite tastey and is probably quite practical.

Also, aren't you worried about warranty on a brand new car like that and having it remapped?

Its good, reading about it Ding LOL, I don't get it till 16th July. But as for the remap, yes of course im worried im monitoring the forums like mad, but its nice to see none blowing up like in the Subaru days, The issue MB faced was the turbo had a recall for updated internals, which did have some blow up, even in normal mode, but this is now fixed..

The Brabus remap is available from 2 places Milton Keynes MB and Brooklands MB, it was 1950 + 150 fitting but this has now gone to 3750 + 150 fitting. which in my book is to rich for 40BHP. One guy has it who paid the former price, and Carlisle MB have a RED A45 for sale with it already for 45K, just like mine.

I have 3 options open if I like to Gamble.

MSL in Brum, £600 quid for a piggyback box, although not seen much of it so a little unsure

Rebellion £900 404BHP seems to be where most go, but still a bit unsure not the greatest company out and I bet if you go pop they would soon disown you.

RENNtech Germany 414BHP £1850, however I do have an email stated I can have it for 1000 euros. so I may go these guys and just have it in the draw. These guys are the best I hear at MB tuning.

The Remap makes the car better as always but brings the power in lower down.

Thanks Ted, I didn't realise you didn't have the car yet!

Yes, £4k is a lot for 40BHP. Is it just a remap or does it come with anything else?

the Chrome Tipped exhausts were kind of a mistake by AMG, they had not got any of the proper ones for the UK market.
The UK ones should have come with Black Tiipped, as we have whats called the night package. Still don't look bad though, all smoke and mirrors though cos behind is just a pipe
