I already posted this in the general forum, but I was hoping for a more regional response:

------------------------------- 8X ----------------------------

I reckon its time for my timing belt to be changed, however as my car is now out of warranty I don't fancy paying £400 to some dealer.....

Does anyone in the West yorkshire area have any good pointers to reputable mechanics or garages / workshops who would change the belt for me, obviously at a cheaper cost than the dealers? Also I can talk pound notes if that's the language they want to use

btw - I'm based in Wakefield, near Leeds, but if you've read my status, you'd probably already know that

Thanks for listening.

You could try Drive-In at Shipley. They are mainly a tyre / exhaust place but also do servicing. The owner Dave and one of the mechanics have Scoob STi's so they are used to working on 'em.

I've only ever used them for tyres so can't comment on their servicing work. Might be worth a try though? Alternatively try Well Lane at Batley.

I get my Scoob serviced at FR Pulleyn York - they seem pretty good and are quite a bit cheaper than some of the other main dealers.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Ian.

ok - thanks for the info.

I was on the phone today to a mechanic who works for a Subaru dealer. He's quoted me £60 plus the price of the belt.

I'll get back to you if its a no-no
