Just over two weeks to go so here is all the information you are looking for the competions at the NBO8


this will be the 6th year we have held the club competion and after getting to such incredible levels in the last 3 years and comments recieved and sheer exhaustion from the battleing teams we have streamlined it a little

similar format, the Tropheys have been ordered, and we have done what we wanted to do many years ago increase subaru awareness and link people to the growing club scene that we have created

Its interesting to see that in over 300 cars we have over 280 linked to clubs and because of that and the numbers you have supplied us with we are relaying the field with more emphasis on club space and smaller lines in the middle

will it work ?
we hope so !!
Gus and the Captain are working it out now with scale modles
so hopefully we should have enough space for you all in your new larger allocated spaces for your club cars

As we are not having as many lines of cars this year you all must
'buy in to this new concept'

If we see people not visiting other clubs stands and hanging around their own club stands only then it wont work ,but we dont want to go back 8 years to just lines of cars so NBO 8 will only work if people actually visit other clubs to see each others cars and displays
Its a 2 way process
club stands must be inviting and people are not shy and walk to other clubs to see their cars and meet fellow owners

Im nervous to how it will go this year, most stand managers have reported visitors to their stands ,prehaps other clubs dont want rival clubs looking at their displays I dont know but I want to see everyone on the field moving from display to display ,been wellcomed by other clubs if that happens ,it HAS worked .

this along with my new hatch section in the arena will be my main worries !

Gus (CS chairman )
Gus was in at the NBO right from the start ''his planning of the field and logistics is fantastic and has helped get the NBO to where it is today "

Mark (classic wr1 show car )
an experienced custom car man ,winner of many awards on the cruise theme owns one of the most photographed Subarus in the UK and has worked closely with us for many years and spends his time visiting other car shows to give us inspiration.

Weasel 555 Andy (USA special envoy )
Andy is so dedicated to the uk subaru scene after living in the USA and controlling the american forums and whole scooby culture over the water that he is a great asset to us with his international experience of subarus

Clare (CS scoobs )
Clare who formed CS babes is a long standing member of CS and the NBO and its important that women are represented in the subaru community her atention to detail and has fetched many ideas to the concept many of you realised she was the mystery judge that marked you all !!




The five judges will score up to 200 points per display giving a total of 1000 points We worked this concept last year and the results were amazing with less then 15% seperating the top 5 !!!We all have different ideas but will all be following the following Criteria

Is it wellcoming to outsiders ?
Is everyone treated like a judge ?
does your entry look good from a distance ?
are you advertsing your club ?
If it was a shop would you go in and buy something ?
would you buy into the club/subaru concept
did you plan it out beforehand ?
Cars is there lines of scoobies crushed in together or have you put some thought into the layout in colour ,age ,modle,variety and possibly a centre piece ?

Remember we have the show Arena for the entries for the car of the day !!!
are all cars on show looking their best with spec sheets
(you will see only max 30 points are awarded for this section as there is more to a club display then just cars !!!

(lordys pet hate is someone polishing the car wearing umbro/addias or looking bored or scared when the judges are wandering around)
Is your Club HQ looking fantastic ,this is your headquarters ,your conference room and rest area Does it look the part ?

Do you have club documentation ,leaflets ,buisness cards, photos etc?
Have you refreshments for your troops and guests?
A well fed club is a happy club ""Very imortant part of club structure this !!

Have you developed the SWAG section (Subaru wives and girlfriends ) and activies for any Subaru children as we have become more mainstream /family orintated rather then just men dressed in jeans and T-Shirts looking down at engine bays what we started ten years ago !!


There is many points for this so plan it out well!!

or are they standing around bored and thinking of the silly world cup
Are they advertsing their club and scoobies or addias and umbro or england<chav style > flags ?
Is the club well organised with structure and meetings ?
does the appointed stand manager shine and is he committed ?

the club stand manager and his team ,their excitement and manner has won many tropheys !!

The X Factor !!!

Has the complete stand and staff got it?

A Theme ####

We would like every club to come up with a theme for the day ,it can be 'anything' scooby OR non scooby

It could be dressing up ,collections ,a charity, a new display, some thing different ?

that is your club theme for the day and you will get 20 points for that and that tied up with the X factor could make you a winner ,

Some clubs are richer then other newer clubs ,thats why we have developed different criteria that doesnt need hugh amounts spent ,passion is sometimes as important to give every club a chance for the gold

Well as it was so popular last year with the new arena and with over 180 scoobies taking part last year we are repeating the

NBO show and shine car of the day comp

this year we will have an even BIGGER arena to give more space for the cars and the crowds that watch this .
As the NBO concept grows every year we feel this is the future for the final 2 years of the NBO concept (Dont worry we are planning years 10-20 !!

this is a major part of fundraising so everyone pays a quid as they drive into the arena for the charity buckets

we try to keep it simpleand quick so the classes are

This year we have assembled a great new team of judges
unfortunely the ' great one ' Robbieben is on holiday this year he has been a great asset for the last 4 years and has helped drive the standards up to where we are today with the NBO .
So this year we have

Martin metcalf TTS chairman
you will all know martin he has been with us since NBO 1 and indeed said I was mad 8 years ago in a darkened corner of the Dun cow pub when I suggested a meeting of subarus on a national scale .
As part of our cabinet reshuffle Martin has agreed to lead the judges for NBO 8 ten years experience in the scene and having owned the famous S600BDO car he knows his stuff !

Del boy

we all remember the orange scooby we read his features and counted his trophies including the 'best in Britain 'in fact last year he agreed to park up his orange scoob and put on his judgeing hat to help drive the comp forward his passion and detail skills are legandary he has the X factor ( and is even fetching his new toy which is typical Del Boy material )

Woody
Stephen knows his stuff been on the scenes with CS for many years including his Black Bug and is now on the dark side ( but for how long ?)
he is Del boys mate and helped build his car too
his technical skills are amazing

Evomoby
Steve is a new kid on the block for us at the NBO I've known Steve for some years now and
Is one the management side at TTS but in his other life judgeing Hot Rods and American muscle cars and owning them and building them his experience is spread over many years in the car scene i'm really excited for what Steve can bring to the arena

Carl Bowes
I've known C60WE for many years now Carl is the equilvent to Del boy on the cruise scene and his 206 has won many car shows all over Europe fantastic car( wait to you see it ) and carls CV for car customs and modifications is incredible this was a major achievment for us signing up Carl to help us judge at the NBO

that's the line up of judges I'm sure you will agree that their CVs is fantastic and noone can argue with a team of judges with experience and knowledge like that
these guys know their stuff ,have built cars , showed cars and won trophies
listern to the judges comments ,take on board what they say and trust in their judgement and they do know how to pick winners .
This is going to be the best competion yet at the NBO on the quest for the gold

As part of our T&Cs of hosting the NBO we have had to inform the polce of the event
