Been Offered a complete Bottom end, inc crank, pistions, shells etc, which should fit directly, and if so I could get all the gaskets and belts replaced, BUT does anyone know what labour costs are likely to be?

Also, Jap Parts in Birmingham have offered a transplant for £1200 which includes everthing, whas your views?

Thanks Rob

Had a voice mail today, ive not returned the call, but they said they offering a rebuild, supply and fit for £1200. The compnay wall called Jap Auto Parts, so i googled them, i think from the missed call number this is them:

Default Advice or Guidance Required

Hiya Guys, just to keep you updated, this is my current options if anyone has can give advice on my best route: Im leaning towards the last options if anyone has any thought please let me know.

Cheers Rob

Jap Auto in Birmingham have offered a transplant for £1200 all inc
Ive been offered a short engine for £150, so then i have Gaskets, Belts and labour on that if i can get a labour price?
Also been offered a forged bottom end for £900, so same as above really.
Also Pennine offered me rebuild at £2250.
Also seen all the ebay deals, vaying from £500 for a bottom end to £2000 for a complete engine.
A guy who lives local who i met through SN has bought the £1200 engine on ebay which is as described below which is also tempted, Quoted apx £350 - £400 labour for the transaplant
Scoobyteknixuk Fleetwood offered £1400 for new engine transaplant all inc
Same as above but WR1 engine £2200
Same as above but brand new 2.5 £2400

just remember anything you go for that is not the same as you already have in your car will need a remap so you need to factor that into the price. ecutek licence is £600 plus.

a complete sti or wr1 engine would need a new matching ecu because they have avcs heads and yours currently does not. your 5 speed gearbox/clutch are not bullit proof so if going for bigger power (anything over 360bhp) they will be on borrowed time.

chy is by far the best engine builder on your list but he has a lot of work on at the moment so i would say you will be waiting a long time for him to complete your work.

advantages and disadvantages to all the above.

if it where myself i'd go for a forged bottom end only and just get it fitted at least you know then it won't happen again, won't cost for a remap until you want one and when you want to do some mods it will handle the power no problem.

choice as they say is up to you and depends how deep your pockets are.
