I've also been asked to pass on details of a different day @ Elvington on the 24th Sept, where they are having a top speed records day for bikes and cars.

open to anyone, they will be timing one vehicle at a time using the full main tarmac runway.

£50 on the day to compete. Very rare to get a chance of a proper top speed attempt day on the main runway so be there from 9am if you wish to run!
