The smell Abdabz, the smell!
Real answer... the air con is not cold when set on coldest setting, or there are bubbles tracking across the evapourator sight glass.
If air con not used weekly, the seals can harden up and fail a bit, losing the gas. Some gas does perculate through th rubber hoses, usually recommended a refill every 2 year.

If leak is obvious then no charge.
Full fill or part fill/top up.
Also, if the air con needs lubes that can be arranged usually, pending supplies.
Full evac and pressure test not available for 'ave-a-go motors local car club offer!

Not sure if I will be driving - going to A&E on Sunday to get my shoulder looked at again following my mountain bike accident - possible fracture in the upper arm judging by the seering pain so need an xray. Not going to let it stop me drinking this weekend though
I now have a 5" HKS Cat Back exhaust fitted by System R (TDI North) in Warrington and finally have a bug eye with the sweetest exhaust note I have ever heard! Oh Yes
