I have almost made up my mind on an EVO6.
I currently have an STi4 (with exhaust mods)

I am keen to know from a day-day point of view what its like to own an EVO6.
In particular....
Running costs (fuel/insurance/tyres etc)
How reliable they are....
Performance & handling difference
etc etc

Would like to hear from anyone who was jumped from an STi to an EVO6 if possible - before I make up my mind for sure.

Thanks

Ro.

I dont have a scooby, but my brother does..

I drive an EVO6 everyday to work and back.. And for pleasure..

The evo is a v reliable car if you look after it.. I have never had anything go wrong with mine in a year of owning it.

Its quite hard to live with sometimes, specially when u have a hangover and u driving to work! But, I love it, and can ignore the hard suspension on it etc..

Edited to say, I have only bought one set of tires since I have had it, so thats a set every 6 months I would say, As I need a new set now..(on the front that is, but its best to change all 4 tires when changing)

I travel alot, and on overage I tank up twice a week.. thats about £28 per tank depending if I go into red or not!!

The handling on this car is amazing.. Very fast and v safe..

My insurence is ok for a 24 year old.. I aint quoting it here, but its with Tescos and 65% discount.. And exes of £700..

I would say my bros scooby, is better for driving everyday in, it is also v fast but not quite as fast as the evo.. The scooby has much softer suspensoin, but this also makes the handling on it alot sloppyer compared to the evo.. He also puts as much fuel in as I do, coz he has to push it harded to keep up with me!! But he gets much greater range outa a tank on the motorway..

I aint been very technical here, just giving an example of my experiance..

And the evo gets so many looks on the street I get all shy!

Thumbs up

Did the same jump but from a STI IV type-R

>Running costs (fuel/insurance/tyres etc)

Around the same to more expensive

>How reliable they are....

Reliable, only if no expense spared. Shorter service schedules - ie 4,500 miles

>Performance & handling difference

Better turn in, more grip, more low down torque, different engine sound, exhaust note, felt like not as much top end (+80mph acceleration not as quick.)

Cool

I put about £100 petrol in my first week of ownership, but then again i did when i first got the scoob!

I only echo what has been said, bumpier ride defo but all the better round the corners! More exclusive and better made car IMO.

You won't regret it thats for sure. Just go easy on the gas and it's not too bad, put yer footdown and 9 miles to the gallon is not uncommen.

I love mine but then i've only had it a week.

I wont bother putting my thoughts, you get the drift

Basically better performance but slightly higher runing costs....

Please mail me off-line if you like and let me know what your paying.
I'm 32 full NCD, No points and car is garaged overnight.
I got this link from those very helpfull people on the EVO board and its very informative.
http://www.jackals-forge.com/lotus/evo/evo_buying.html

Check it out.
Regards Jay

P.S. Crypt any chance you could let me know your car's details and how much you paid ? Sorry nosey bugger aren't I, bit there seems to be quite a variation in price.

Thanks
