Default Chipexpress tuning box problem i think

Thought i would try it on here to see if anyone would know or its just me.
Bought one but not for a car but for a massey ferguson tractor 5445 model and fitted.
I soon put it to the test by pulling loads were it would struggle and very slowly build up speed on the road flat out without the tuning box.
With the box plugged in the difference it makes on a high setting from 95hp to 120hp (i reckon) is good.
Had the box in cab and could see the underload light that comes on everytime im wanting the power when accelorating and could feel it anyway without looking at the light and it was faultless

Anyway but now recently ive been noticeing it dont seem to be working properly where by because the gears are electronic i dont need to take my foot off the throttle and i keep it at a costant RPM (say 1500rpm, revs are 2200rpm flat out) and im going through the gears on the road pulling underload the chip dont seem to be reconizing that the engine is underload with my foot to floor until the revs get to 1800rpm and kicks in and does this most off the time which is no good as its like you havent got the chip fitted. But if i take my foot off the throttle and then on again the chip will kick in but a couple of occasion it had kicked in but went off in the rev rang until it got to 1800rpm where it comes on and stops on.
In the slower gears there is no issue as is less underload stress.

I sent it back but they said its working fine and i tried it again and it still doing the same and its annoying me now.

These chip boxs know matter were you are in the rev rang if you accelorate it should alway work and increase fuel pressure. So if the fuel sensor is knowing there is aload then it should tell the tuning box and kick in more fuel on the common rail.

Tuning box was the only option as a remap (ecu out) wasnt garenteed.

Anyoneone know about these tuning box's and why its not doing what it should.

Sorry, I know I shouldn't but as soon as I read "Massey ferguson" I started crying with laughter

Sorry

Carry on

Hmm.

I'm sure LSherratt will be here at some point, he'll ask his dad for the answer, and then pass it to you.

In think he's watching "I'm a Celeb, get me outta here!" atm.

It's just you. I was at the Newark Vintage Tractor Show the other week and no-one else mentioned the problem to me.

That could be as I was a caterer

So you've chipped a tractor? I don't know which transmission it is running, but I wouldnt be surprised if you have not caused issues with it's ecu. The transmission euu will be pre-programmed to expect to see certain load values coming from the engine. If you have changed the engine characteristicsics, this will effect how the transmission receives and transmits engine torque. The hydraulics will also be running from a pto (power take off) on with the front or back of the engine. These are designed to operate again, within a certain range. Transmit more power than what they are rated for then you may damage the input splines.

Yes we have chipped it. These tractors now have a rated horsepower say for this tractor we have is 95bhp so when its in top gear for road speed they have a power boost on them when underload that will give it a extra 10hp which dont really notice its there.
Its used on the road for pulling and does not do any field work.
I think its upset something like the ecu as it was faultless when i first got it. I had the battery disconected all night, not sure wether it would rest the ecu but not made no difference

if you remove the box can you carry out a check for any sensor problems ?
Could it be a sensor that's failed/failing on the tractor unit rather then the box ?

I've got nothing to add to this thread at all, except to say that I love the fact somebody has actually fitted a tuning chip to a tractor. Reminds me of this

If i left it unplugged the engine sounds flat as hell without the box in and the plug not plugged into the common rail
