I've had a bite off one, put my bare foot into my trainer and the f*cker had me on the top of my foot.
Took my trainer off to see what had "spiked me" and that fell out. Anyway he met a swift end as of course I had my trainer in my hand and he was on the floor in front of me

That would make me jump a mile!
No issue with small spiders but they can bite. I was a bit if a nervous wreck in Oz when we camped there. One night a huge huntsman spider crawled towards the door; we grabbed our kit and ran! Stayed in cabins after that!

altough its totally benign (to humans) the huntsman has been associated with several deaths on the road due to climbing in and hiding behind sunvisors........... you can guess the rest.

We had our first False Widow about 3 years ago. Lived under our window sill at the back of the house all year. Now we have quite a few, I can find 3 or 4 at any one time if I look around the garden.
The main snag is they can live for 3 or even 4 years with the right conditions....

I dare say the heat we've experienced this summer has played its role in some of the creepy crawlies we've seen lately, a couple of decent frosts will sort a lot of them out.

We also saw two red backs, a funnel web and two deadly snakes in our two months there - a bit unlucky!

whilst we are on the subject of spiders, i have one that lives in my drivers side wing mirror. normally it would not bother me but this little swine builds a huge web between my mirror and the door/window/roof every damned day. tried pressure washing the sod out but hes still there. how can i get rid of him once and for all? until the next one comes along that is....

FOOOOOKKK ME !!!!!!!!
You's lot on The Mainland can keep them, thank you very much
FOOOOOKKK ME !!!!!!!!
Britain’s most poisonous spider, it arrived in bananas from the Canary Islands early last century, but until now has always kept itself hidden in the warmer south west of England.
Experts claim climate change has led to a surge in numbers, with the arachnids now spreading as far east as Norfolk and as far north as Birmingham.

My bite didn't hurt that much, did come up as a lump on my foot though and left a mark that was there for about 12 months after.
Just took antihistamine tablets for a week until the lump went down.
Not scared of spiders but I always check my trainers / boots now before I put them on.
