Default Panorama tonight - Saving Syria's Children

I've just caught the last 10-15 minutes of it and I have to say it is the worst thing I have seen on TV. Worse than any gory film or any real life news article to date.

To think that suffering has been going on for so long whilst the World has stood by and done nothing against Syria.

I don't know how those Dr's sleep at night dealing with what they have to witness.

Truely shocking

No one else see it? To give an idea the last part I caught was the Dr's dealing with the aftermath of an incendiary bomb being dropped by the Syrian Government on a school in the middle of the day and all the kids dieing with their skin burnt off. Even the Dr's were in tears as they were overwhelmed and couldn't cope/save everyone.

It just made me think that whilst we sit back on our sofas watching the news and hearing about Syria and people saying oh we shouldn't get involved that no one is really thinking/or seeing what is happening to innocent people just going about their every day lives. Those people need the rest of the World to stop their own Government from murdering them.

The trouble is, as was quickly realised by all Western governments (with the exception of Cameron - no surprise there), there is no easy solution! Piling in militarily would probably only make things worse overall and diplomacy is a slow process which doesn't help those dying now!

There are also numerous other parts of the world where atrocities happen every day and we can't sort them out either!

Human beings are not very nice animals basically!

After Rwanda I thought the mantra of the West was 'never again'!!

What was meant was 'never again as long as Russia and China agree'

We now see the worst refugee crisis in 20 years, and people dying at the hands of their own government at a terrible rate.

And what do we do... absolutely nothing!

Like you said F1 'Human beings are not very nice animals'

Got it on Sky +, I did see the earlier one about the shopping mall terrorists in Nairobi though, anybody else see it? I never realised just how much destruction was done, whole sections of the shopping mall have disappeared!

I agree, it shows Russia and China to be so dehumanised if they think such attrocities should just be part of everyday life and let them get on with it.

How Putin could sit and watch that program and at the end of it just say oh nevermind is beyond me.

I have not seen it but can imagine what is was like.

Being a parent makes it 100 times worse I guess but what is the answer?
All this is over land. Nothing else. It isn't religion, it isn't politics, it is land, plain and simple. You have to question why someone would go to such lengths to protect an area of dirt.

I am sure some people will come on here and tell me how wrong I am and that it isn't just about the land. To those people - wake up.

As F1fan said, humans can be very nasty beings sometimes and this proves it.
They can also do great things for each other, although I can never see this happening in Syria, even with outside help.

Truly tragic situation, but short of a full-scale invasion which might only lead to more deaths and chaos, and on top of that risk kicking-off WWIII, what is the West supposed to do exactly?

Also, it's not about a piece of dirt, it's about tribal affiliation, a cause/excuse for war so deeply-rooted in human make-up it goes back to the time we were still swinging from trees.

Not even the Syrians are interested in saving their children, stay out of it and let the muslim states around them do something for once.

I'm in agreement, it's not as though we haven't got enough on our plates with other countries (we shouldn't be in anyway) without getting involved in any more, why is it always us that needs to save the world? It's not as though we get any thanks for it..

^^^^ Did either of you two see the program? Did you see the children dieing with their skin hanging off from incendiary burns all for just being at school? If you did and you can still sit there and say **** em then you don't have a conscience in my book.

And where have I said the UK should sort it out? I haven't, if you read it again i've suggested the rest of the World need to act together. Russia and China have Syrian children's blood on their hands for refusing to condemn the Syrian regime.

I didn't see the actual programme - afraid I couldn't bring myself to see even more death and destruction on the TV - but I saw the news item about the 13 year old lad.

He was taken into hospital after an incendiary device was dropped on his school, I think they said he had 40% burns?

His tearful comment of 'Why did they bomb us, we were only at school? Why?' was pretty damning enough of the Syrian regime.

As for what to do other than a full blown ground invasion the first thing would be to enforce a no fly zone. That will stop the ****** sending up his jets to bomb schools for starters.

Assad doesn't just need removing from power, he needs capturing and taken before an international court and charged with all the war crimes/atrocities he has committed.

Which country will do this?
USA?
UK government?
UN?

Those UN resolution are good as empty words/promises from our politicians and we are again witness of the Rwanda and Srebrenica

Russia and China,Iran still standing behind Syria as stayed behind the Libya..

Easy solution is only one, full attack and take him down, but Russia went now with peaceful solution, which as many pointed out is diversion tactic from Russia/China/Iran and get Assad regime time

My blood pi$$ing everytime when I see those pictures

Looks like we were helping Libya too

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...-revealed.html

It is a very crap situation in Syria. The gov seem to be targeting civilians (whilst ironically when the west does the same it's because terrorists are hiding amongst civilians).

Why is the press so interested in Syria when other atrocities in the world don't seem to get any coverage? Why is there no news reports/documentaries exposing the tactics of the terrorists and the damage they cause?

It is very sad that once again the only people really suffering are civilians however that does not give us the green light to invade or attempt to fix the problem for them. We have already harmed Syria enough by 'accidentally' training and arming al qaeda so any invasion or attack can only go one way. As madman said. Let the arabs deal with it.

And neither should we, it's their back yard not ours. What we don't need is involved with another countries Islamic nut jobs, or pissing off our own Islamic nut jobs even more.

Without sounding cruel it's not our problem.

So we should let 'our Islamic nut-jobs' decide our foreign policy?

Are they any less qualified than Cameron? If it were up to him we'd be in Syria by now making another huge f**k up!

Degrading their ability to use them or in other words bombing them but everybody was clear "no boots on the ground" so no invasion.
