Apparently I'm 'the worst dad in the world' because 'all his mates have it'!!
As I understand it some of the content are just completely unsuitable

It must be!
I didn't know what GTA was, so I Googled it. Its website asks to verify your age. I refrained, as it would have said- "**** off. Ok, you need to be 18, but you madam are too ancient to even know anything like that!".
Obviously, it is for over-18's but under 40's.
Martin, don't let him play on that regardless. He needs to be at least 14 to play 18's games.

I heard something interesting on the radio the other day...
Almost never do 18 rated films get into the 'top movies' (by sales), but 18 rated games are by a long way the biggest sellers.
That can only mean that there's a hell of a lot of under 18s buying them

I don't think an 18 rated game would make your sone go out and steal cars, degrade women etc, if they are going to turn out that way regardless of what you do they will, it is mostly genetic.
Maybe let him play a little and monitor it, if you think it is getting too much stop him playing.

Lol I let mine play all the previous GTA's If your kids can't differentiate between real life and games then don't let them play it. Depends on your kids temperament tbh
Porno is everywhere, GTA is no different to music channels, adverts and everything else electronically mediated to our kids these days
The more you ban it the more they want it, mine are pretty blase to what would be considered inappropriate arcade material because they're taught right from wrong in the REAL world
I haven't got the new GTAV yet though

FWIW, I won't play the game in front of my 2 daughters - gameplay content so far isn't the issue.
However, the sex scenes and constant swearing are. FOR ME, it's too much to expose my kids to.
Yes, they watch grown up films in our presence (with us, never on their own).... but this is different.

21st Century entertainment - you can keep it.
Bring back Pong.

I don't remember Pong, but what happened to that innocent Luigi and Mario? I think Luigi had a funky moustache. He used to walk monotonously on a brick road, and then fall like an idiot into the unknown depths. Then he'd come up again all alive n' kicking! The music on that game was phenomenal! The idea was to keep him walking and not let him fall. Difficult, but challenging. Then, that Mario who used to go really fast on his cart. I tried playing those games, but really couldn't keep up with my kids. They're older now, so they can play any game they like. Little kids shouldn't play twisted games with prostitutes in them and then murder them, Christ!

12 you say.....
My little lads 4
I let him play it (against his mums wishes).....
There is no right and wrong in how you bring a kid up....the point you have to teach them is they understand right and wrong
My son can also shoot a junior modified 410 shotgun and drive a quad......will playing gta turn him into a joyriding car thief that does drive by shootings
Time will tell , bar a few tantrums off him he is well behaved and so polite

What I let my kid do is my choice.....advice from a forum I don't need .
Like I stated he is a clever kid, a polite kid and seems to know most right forms wrongs.
Bad language ....think most people slip up and say the odd wrong word....my little lad laughs and says he's telling his mum.
He is out in either a car or van with me at some point of every day....think he understands running people over is not the right thing.....wouldn't you say pimmo
When I drop him at school in the morning I will stab one of the other parents and go for a spin in their q7.......how's that for being a troll pimmo you bell end
Wasn't calling me a troll when you was pm'ing me trying to get a car off me
