seemed to appear in loads of Rap stuff and took life from there. Some uneducated types think it means how well off you are and more importantly how much you show it off, but this is complete rubbish. Bet some muppet argues

Bling bling means how well off you are and more importantly how much you show it off. It comes from the light reflecting and shining off the 3 ton of gold jewellery the sort of people who use the phrase wear.
Disco, for example is very bling bling cos of the stately home he lives in and the fleet of very expensive cars he drives. and his pet swans

Believe that it's one of those onoamatopaeic <oooh look at me!> words that sounds like it is, and it derives from the cash register sound. In the UK it's Ka-Ching in the US it's Bling Bling.
