I've not sold on there for a while so I thought I'd check out their fees as I'm about to sell a bike on there. There's a listing fee which is reasonable, then there's fees for extra pics on the listing and a 10% final selling fee. So if I sell the bike for £700 I'm looking at fees of near £100 factoring in a 3% (plus £1.30) reserve fee? Or am I reading their fee guide all wrong? Taking the pi55 a little!

I seem to sell stuff better on Gumtree anyway, plus its free and you get less idiots!

I'm not having much luck selling computer items on eBay seems pretty flat at the moment so might give gumtree a go myself!

 

Nope thats about right mate we increase our sales by around 8-10% when listing on eBay to cover insertion fee's, final value fee's and also paypal fee's.

eBay is a joke but they have the market at the moment so there is nothing anyone else can do

eBay fees have become expensive now.

 

That is about right. I worked out what the fee's were after I had sold my old Blackberry. Close to 15% with paypal fee's! Haven't sold on there since.

 

eBay fee's are indeed crazy. I had a dig around in the garage the other month, sold a load of little bits and mainly ended up banging my head against the wall with all the people that asked me to post everything I said was collecton only. A load of it sold for peanuts, then you get left with enough in the paypal account to cover the fee's.

I don't kow how these power sellers do it. I often ponder the whole 'selling the contents of my local charity shops on eBay' idea but after I sell a few bits and deal with all the idiots that don't read the description and mess you about, I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a blunt stick.

 

Power Sellers with an eBay shop get reduced insertion fees and reduced final fees.

I am a power seller with a basic shop, I get 20 free listings a month and 10% discount on final value fees.
Other grades of shop get more free listings and better discounts.

FVF max is £75, but you need to take into account insertion fees, upgrades and PayPal fees.

I prepare all of my lisings using Auctiva software for a few pounds a month subscription.
Templates with supersized linked images are included along with photo hosting.

Gumtree is horrible to use ..... the very best way to sell anything, FREE, is Preloved - I have sold loads of things on there and bought some too - you get a much better class of buyer/seller.

Really, E-Bay is a rip-off for sellers.

 

I found 'pinkbike website' a good place to sell pushbikes and its free!

 

You can save on the fees for adding extra pics by using some basic html code in the listing if that helps.

 

Bike picked up tonight. Paid in cash and I had 2 other serious offers. Zero fees :-)
