Yep very hard earned victory, thought he was going to let it slip near the end but he dug deep and played some real quality tennis - I bet he is absolutely knackered after that effort.

Top job!

Best thing is, nobody can say he was lucky to do it. Beat the world no.1 in straight sets.

Fantastic Andy

Andy Murray has just sealed the fate for Scottish Devolution.

There's no way we are going to lose our Wimbledon champion to a group of orange haired, skirt-wearing, foul-mouthed alcoholics.

Precisely, unlike our football team, who seem to want fluke there way into the World Cup final and hopefully play Tonga

To be the best you have to beat the best, simple

I didn't watch it. I hate tennis and will avoid the news for the inevitable endless wankfest and **** licking because of this win.

Kept me & the Mr's on the edges of our seats !!!

Really thought he was going to loose it at the match points,

Jeez he had to dig deep, all credit to to his opponent, he pushed him all the way

Well done Andy, a victory duly deserved

You really do, man! And that's fine. We are all entitled to our loves and hates.

I love Tennis, I do. I was gutted to have missed Andy's semi final due to being at work.

I enjoyed the immediate coverage on Sky news, it was just full of Andy Murray's historic victory. May it last as long as it takes. Well deserved @rse licking in my humble opinion. Even the Queen texted Andy with congrats. Cameron was tweeting national triumph from the spectator gallery.

That Serbian player as well is a hard core player. I do like his game as well. Well done to him, too.

What a nail-biting match. Brilliant.

Wonder what the odds are now on sports personality of the year?

And will they rename Henman Hill, Murray Mount?

Fair play to him, I am glad he won, BUT...... 11 stories out of 16 on the BBC sports front page are about Murray.... he's on the BBC News front page too and they are re-showing the documentary about him they only screened a few weeks ago!!!!

Too much!!!!!

The funniest thing was listening to Cameron talk about it, he stopped short of giving his government credit for helping him win it, but only just and as for that obnoxious **** Alex Salmond.... what a sad excuse for a human being he is ... trying to make political gain on the back of Murray!
