Unhappy "Deep liberal bias" from BBC, report says

The BBC did not accurately reflect the public's growing concern about immigration because of a "deep liberal bias", an official review has found.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/t...ys-review.html

Well, there's a surprise!

No worries as The Daily Mail alone more than redresses the 'balance'

The BBC has four mainstream TV channels, two news TV channels, two Children's channels, massive internet presence and a radio omnipresence.
All coming into your living room with the government seal of approval.
I saw Harmon the other day going on about ownership of the media - but she made no mention of the BBC supremacy in this area.
I wonder if it even occurred to her?

This will also be the same company that shows hours and hours of stupifying tennis on both its main channels at the same time I assume?

I've really been missing my daily fix of Bargain Hunt the last couple of weeks.

I have no problem at all with ethnic minorities. It's the religious fundamentalism that terrifies me. It needs rooting out and outlawing in an enlightened secular society.

Which bit is the surprise? The BBC accusation or the Telegraph using it?

Am I the only person who has noticed that the BBC has completed banned the use of the term 'British' from every channel both on TV and Radio.

Instead, even when its is grammatically incorrect it refer to everything British as 'UK'

UK Government, UK citizens, UK Army blah blah.

Perhaps they should now call themselves the UKBC.

In my own experience, those with poor academic records at undergraduate level were more likely to pursue academic careers than to venture into the "real world".
I think some of them took so long to get their degrees, they had in effect become institutionalised.
No doubt the BBC and similar organisations would provide a comfortable haven for such types.

They can have any views they want, trouble is they are supposed to be impartial whereas they are demonstrably biased. Thats the problem

Indeed we do but why does the BBC insist on shrtening the name of our country to an almost non-sensical abbrevation?

Strange post??????

Except the UK is not a secular society - our Head of State (HM Queen) is also the head of the Church of England, and bishops sit in the House of Lords.

Not at all secular then? Nothing secular? 100% a theocracy?

The bbc is one of the few media outlets which by law has to have a level of objectivity. We should cherish that fact.
In a world where "facts" are harder and harder to come by, I'm glad of the bbc.

And the point of the report is that they are failing to do that

Yeah, but let's face it - in this country, nobody takes any of these people seriously. You must have noticed this?
Unlike for example the Supreme council in Iran. Hezbollah in Lebanon etc etc.

They are doing it better than the print media for example. Some of their articles are truly shocking in objectivity.

Maybe I am.

But now I have mentioned it perhaps others who have read my strange posts will also notice it too.

If you listen to what the BBC say you will notice that it is as if they have been told to use the term UK instead of British no matter what the context.
As a consequence they also do it when its not grammtically correct.

But - as you said- perhaps its all in my tiny little mind.

Except the print media do not have a charter to be unbiased and neutral, they have a legal obligation to be factual only. No-one is suggesting that the Guardian and Daily Mail are unbiased, that's a straw man argument. The BBC is however supposed to be neutral and its not. As a taxpayer funded organisation that's simply not good enough

As a liberal, to me it's perfectly neutral.

If the BBC spouted Warrens right-wing ideological drivel I'm sure he'd not be posting his disapproval.
