Arrived yesterday. It's basically a minimilist speaker for use with either a laptop, phone, ipod or ipad.

Not cheap at £86, but it sounds great. It's also great to be able to support a UK company.

Looks awesome, and I'm all for supporting UK industry, but aren't they gonna face tough competition from other speakers like the x-mini 2 (the pop up portable speaker that retails at £18)

At £172 per pair, they are dearer than some quite good stereo speakers

And what's with selling "A speaker"?

Has stereo gone out of fashion?

Another poorly thought out British product.......

They are not designed for stereo use, you are missing the point. A Minirig plus a phone makes a small, highly portable music system.

It's about time that people (not you btw) recognised that the portable (ipod/phone) music carriers are a serious addition to the traditional amp/cd player/floorstanders. By that i mean, create products that recognise that. Portable music shouldn't have to be cheap, plasticky, gimmick ridden products. There's a market for quality, well designed products (Apple have shown that).

They look a bit bigger than the x-mini but once you add a few mini's together they sound great. Its only when they are on their own they are bland.

No, it doesn't, it will sound like the old transistor radios of the 60's. A step backwards.

The cost is relative to production costs. In the UK we (mostly) pay a fair wage, follow health and safety rules and pay taxes. The end price is a reflection of those costs. This is why (in my opinion) we need more protectionism for domestic manufacturing. It's alright shrugging one's shoulders and saying x or y is cheaper but you must look at the bigger picture. Products from the UK were renowned the world over for quality and desirability, unfortunately consumer demand for cheap tat from abroad has ensured an erosion of domestic industries.

Looks neat, presumably the selling point is portability..??

It's the kind of value for money / price point I imagine an apple fan would suck up big time.

To be fair, I bet an old cassette player like that sounds better than a minirig.

I sell pro audio, our company was approached by minirig, and similar companies. We gave them a miss... Its portable, but sound quality and portable do not tend to go together. Also, sound sources such as phones, laptops etc are not known for quality sound either. And we haven't even started on MP3s....

I can assure you, they do not offer "amazing" sound, but they will certainly make a racket. With this in mind, save your money and get the cheaper option.

He'd pay double the price for an inferior product.
