Watering the ol' Marigolds tonight, I notice a bright yellow spider tucking into a massive bumble bee

Took a picture of it, the evening light don't show the colour too well, it was bright yellow.
Anyone know what it is, or seen one before??

Nope I don't like killing things, I even tried to save the life of the Bee, but it was a proper deadun
Spiders are good for gardens anyway, well maybe not Bee eating ones

It was on a yellow marrigold flower and it was eating the bee when I was watering it, I at first thought I'd drowned the bee, tried to rescue it when I notice the spider was on it and eating it

Maybe I should have kept hold of it?
It was quite big, I'd say the body was about penny sized.

Thats the one though, I poked it with a blade of grass and it immediatly hid underneath the leaf, I then put the dead bee back to it on a twig and it grabbed hold of it

That my friend is the East African Mousehound spider,not only does it eat Marigolds it is also prone to attack other rubber gloves.

 

If it is one of them, it probably got over here the same way as most things. In somebody's cargo on a plane / boat.

I'd flick it into your neighbour's garden (particularly if you don't like them ) and keep well away from it

That's why I get my missus to throw all the spiders out that come into our house (unless they are about 1mm in size )

 

This makes it sound a little less harmful. I think it's of the same genus (crab spider family) as the Aussie spider, but looks a little more friendly. Bit of a shape shifter by all accounts as it can change it's colour

Yes thats the one, found another site from its Latin name, harmless to humans, although could be classed a pest due to it eating bees

Hehehe, here we go again......

 

Using my excellent detective skills, I have calculated that that my friend, is a camel spider.

 

It'll eat your face while you're asleep. Mention to any Arabs about camel spiders and they'll be scared sh17l3ss!! My Egyptian friend from Uni might bring me one from there. He says its as big as a cat.

p.s. The stories are true about them btw.....

 

The yellow spider is - Misumena vatia

The Misumena vatia is a crab spider that can adapt its color to her surrounding. The color of its body can change between snow white, egg sac yellow and green. The change of color takes 2-3 days. Its main menu is bees. The spider seizes the bee by its front legs and bites it in the bee's neck. The spider keeps its hold on the bee until the bee gives up its resistance. If the spider catches a lot of prey, it hangs its surplus stock below its hiding place

Does anyone know of a Suction cupped footed Spider????

I ask as we have seen two at work on friday... we have never seen anything like it before.... the caretaker to the building is a spider freak and even got his book out which he had in the boot of his car
He couldn't find it, and didn't know it

I dont have a picture.. but has anyone seen or heard of a Spider with suction cup type paws on the end of it legs....

We are in a very old Church cottage and think we may have found a new species

Any help welcome.... and this is not made up...
