Any reason not to go to Carphone Warehouse?
Looking to get an Iphone 4S. The deal i'm after is a mixture of pay up front/ monthly tarrif. For the same number of minutes/MB data the cost over 2 years on O2 is
£648 Carhpone warehouse
£747 at O2.
Normally i go to O2, and reason to not go to CW and save £100.

I've always just used Carphone warehouse, except for one upgrade I did directly with o2, and they've always been fine.
O2 don't give a toss, they won't give cheaper deals to keep their customers anymore,

While I'm here;
I'm due an upgrade next month and I'm on a £21 month O2 contract, anyone got any idea what I'm looking at paying if I wanted an iphone4s or 5?
Reckon I should consider a Samsung galaxy s3 or 4 or even an htc?

OP have a look to see what GiffGaff offer. I have my business phone through them and I know they sell phones aswell, but not sure what ones.

^^^^ Works out the same then going SIM only from Apple compared to contract over a 2 year span. In fact it's slightly cheaper to go contract if he can get it for £648 over 2 years where as SIM only cost and £10 a month would be £690 for the same period.
I had no problems with Carphone Warehouse though when I purchased my iPhone 3GS a few years a go. I bartered them down with the phone and recycling price for my current phone, and on getting insurance for £6 a month through their company "Geek Squad" (may have changed now), which I ended up using. Gave great customer service even when I went in to claim and not for a sale.

Still debating which to go for, the 4S or the 5. The price difference is minimal.
I prefer the size and looks of the 4S, but as always with technology, newer is normally better. Secondly, the docking port on the 4S matches everything i have at home.

Buy the five. Get a rolling monthly contract. Then when the 6 comes sell the five for pretty much what it cost.
The phone companies tie you into 24m contracts which is way to long when a new phone comes along every 8 months.

Might be worth looking at buying outright from Smartfonestore.com.
They have an excellent reputation, 16gb Iphone 4s grade B on O2 for £256 or a 16gb Iphone 5 grade B on O2 for £355. Price includes free delivery and a 60 day warranty.
If you're not happy with the phone when you receive it you can return it and get a refund/exchange.
I bought a grade A Iphone 4 from them and it was in as new condition.
Regardless of the warranty they offer, Iphones are still covered under their Apple warranty.

If you are listening to rumours, which everything is when it comes to apple, you'll be staying clear of the 6 then. They are comprising build quality to make it more affordable, mainly based for other countries.....apparently. The next decent version will supposedly be the 5S, so will be minimal difference.
At the end of the day there's not much difference between the 4S and the 5 at the moment. They both run the same software and IOS operating system, though there are apps which haven't released any updates to utilise the whole screen on the 5. If you're getting contract I would go for the 5 as long term they will be looking at designing around that shape, but if you're buying outright then the 4S as you can sell it when the next iphone is released and you won't be 2 generations behind if that sort of thing bothers you.

I'm on O2 but through Carphone Whorehouse.
4s a year ago was £36 pm with £6 Internet bolt on. O2 through their shop/online wanted £100 for the phone, CP WH wanted £0 online, £99 shop. Matched online deal in store or they'd have lost my business. 30% off as a mate works in the right department too so £30 bills

I would never buy something from Phones4U for the simple reason I can't stand their annoying behaviour where they hang out the doors of their stores trying to get people in to buy a phone they can't afford!!
Seen it many a time and I almost feel like smacking them one! Usually some spotty kid like out of that Phoneshop programme on C4!

I've had better deals when I ask at phones4u, I once simply asked what the best deal was on the chacha when it first came out and got £140 knocked off 02 will never budge on price and cpw are ok but lie a lot in my experience, I've even written to the head office about a certain store because of being lied to and mislead when buying phones etc and didn't even get a reply!

I've always had good deals from Virgin, but I'm the first to admit I'm not really particularly savvy with mobiles. They might be worth a try though, as they seem to be willing and able to haggle if necessary.

I have always thought that the I phone (which ever model) have always been expensive and from what I have seen there not exactly imo the best about for what they charge you. And from what I have seen from the pics from them there pretty naff to a certain extent. If your looking for internet why not look at a tablet? I wouldn't think about getting an Iphone for myself. I won a brand new Iphone 4s in a competition last year, I gave it to my girlfriend as she normally has my hand-me-downs as I have a contract.
I am looking at possibly getting the Galaxy S4 when I upgrade in the next few months, but then I tend to go for ones with a good camera on them. I have a Galaxy S2 atm and I like it although I will get a new phone and keep the one I have now for my business phone.
Look around, go in to several shops and ask them what's the best deals you can get on the Iphone and play them all against each other. Check the net first as you might find it hard to get a better deal on the high street. Shop around and do your research first
