In the best interests of all confused current Manchester United
Supporters, Nike have announced that next year the Man United kit
will feature a reversible shirt, similar to the current England shirt.

One side will feature the existing Man United home kit but, once reversed, will transform into the current Arsenal home kit. This radical move is aimed specifically to pacify the Manchester United supporters who naturally expects their team to win all their home games and, at the very minimum, the Premiership. The new shirt will give the Man United supporter the opportunity to maximise their glory-hunting potential by supporting whoever is likely to win the title.

The new shirts are expected to go on sale in the Manchester United
strongholds of Hampshire, Surrey, Essex and Kent in the close
season.

For those supporters who are unable to wait that long they will be
released to the genuine supporters of Malaysia, Papau New Guinea and Outer Mongolia within the next month.

Next season could also see Man Utd shirts featuring reversible
Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds, West Ham, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and
Blackburn kits depending on who is doing well at the time, although the plans for the Aston Villa reversible shirt have been scrapped since the appointment of Graham Taylor.

Muhahah! I'm no gooner, tho' respect to them for winning the title and FA Cup.

Twas funny listening to old Bobby Charlton in the press today saying "Man Utd are still the kings - when the fixtures come out all supporters will look for when their team plays Man United"

Someone give Mr Charlton a slap (on his chrome dome) will you ? I'm toon army and the first fixture I'll be looking out for is Arsenal - the best team we played last season. Man for man, no doubt better than Man Utd.

On another note, its really genuinely interesting to hear how these Man Utd 'fans' are reacting to losing the title to Arsenal. I think they could learn a lesson in humility. No matter how much you dominated the 90's lads, you DONT have a divine right to win a cup each season. The sooner you learn that the better.

Is it any wonder you're the most hated team in the country? I would imagine a Man Utd supporter's reasoning for that is that they've dominated the game in the 90's but Liverpool and Arsenal have dominated in the past and nobody hates them.

Oh, and careful you don't choke on those prawn sandwiches.

Who mentioned anything even closely resembling a divine right to win a trophy every season - I for one admitted and congratulated Arsenal for playing the best football this season and deservedly taking the title - dont stoop to making unfounded statements =.

Who mentioned it ?
RYAN GIGGS in a televised interview YESTERDAY.

"Its not good enough when a club of Man United's stature doesn't win a cup during the season"

Your post said man utd fan quite specifically (even highlighted in single quotes). I want/expect to win a trophy at the start of every season - that doesnt mean I feel we have a divine right to win one. Im sure if you asked any self respecting Arsenal fan if they expect to win a trophy next season they would reply yes.

Not going to get into the semantics of my paragraph - DOH!

Giggs comments smacked of Arrogance. Charlton's comments smacked of arrogance. Ferguson's comments smacked of arrogance when he said Man Utd were still the top team in the country.

Looking forward to next season when I doubt you'll win anything AGAIN.

FA Cup winners 6 times
League winnders 4 times
Prawn sandwich eaters in crowd = 0
Percentage of fans from Newcastle in crowd = 100%

See you in the qualifiers for the champions league alongside US.

PS: Well done for ending your little tirade on the tireless: "What have you won" bit. How original for a Man Utd fan (sigh)

Bloody Hell
I thought I'd got into a Rangers/Celtic slag off there but it was'nt. Glad to see the same paranoia in England - minus the bigotry.
IMHO
Arsenal - good team, will win something next season
Man Utd - good team, will win something next season
Newcastle - great place for a night out.

From what ive seen on here recently most Utd fans have been congratulating Arsenal on their double, citing Pires, Ljungberg and others as the catalysts for their superb season. No real supporter believes any team has a divine right to win a trophy but theyd love it(scuse the Keeganism, no offense Kippax )if they did win something.

Im glad you call Giggs arrogant, any world class footballer needs to be arrogant to get to the top, to believe in yours and your teams ability, how many great sports stars have been called arrogant, hundreds and why?? because if they werent and didnt have such high self belief they probably wouldnt have made it to the top, This is what drives them on, the will to be sucessful and to win things, I think Arsenal and Man Utd have a lot of players who share this mindset, whereas teams like Chelsea have a lot of players who are there for the money and if a trophy comes along it comes along, I think we would all like 11 players on the pitch who have that arrogance and the huge desire to do well, look at the Arsenal players and manager, full of confidence or arrogance however you look at it, after winning the FA Cup they were saying how they would win the title at Old Trafford and would have the home crowd sneaking out early, so what was that?? arrogance?? yes it was but its also about desire and they did it, fair play to them, I for one am glad Utd players take this attitude, Fergusson and Wenger would not expect anything less, neither would their supporters, who wants someone running onto the pitch who is not full of desire and belief/arrogance that they are unbeatable and the best, no one wants to hear well you know we'll do our best but we dont expect to win, because with that attitude you dont win anything.
Lets face facts Utd are hated because of their success, dont tell me Liverpool/Chelsea/Leeds/Spurs/Newcastle fans would prefer to be liked because they havent won a championship for eons, of course not they would rather be hated and collecting the silverwear.
When I was a nipper in the 70's and Liverpool were winning everything, us Utd fans hated it but it wasnt on such a massive scale because football was Match of the day and On the Ball, it was hardly the high profile sport it is now, its not even on the same level as it was when the Premiership started, its big big business and the whole fan baiting thing is a part of it.
So stop talking absolute bollox, there are plenty of football forums where you can post utter drivel and have a good old tear up, I for one cant wait for the Premiership to resume so I can watch some of the best players on the planet do their thing, yes hopefully Man Utd can win everything show me a supporter/player who doesnt want that, but i will also look forward to watching the Arsenal, Liverpool and so on, not necessarily wanting them to win but to enjoy some of the quality players they have.

What next, rival fans rubbishing each others players who are appearing for England on SNet??

F*ck me ive milked it a bit

That wasted 10 minutes now i can go home
Have a good evening Y'all

Dave

Sorry - I just can't resist wading into this one.

Question - How do you measure the "greatness" of a football team?

Options -

i) By their (recent) successes? Just how recent? When I suppose it's reasonable to argue that teams of 30 years ago have no real relevance in today's footballing world. There are even very few players from 20 years ago that are still playing today. So, just looking at the last 15 years, which is the most successful club in England?

ii) By the depth of their support? Well, I think it's obvious that one club in England has by far the widest reaching worldwide support. Liverpool probably come second, after them, maybe Arsenal.

iii) By their financial success? How many clubs in England made a profit last year? Not too many. Which one made the biggest profit? Err....

iv) How's about their average home crowd?

v) OK, that's a bit biased to those clubs that have big grounds. How's about average home capacity? Newcastle here come a close second to.... any guesses? (I'll give you a clue - they also come top on point iv).

vi) No, no! I've got a much better idea! Let's measure the greatness of a football team by.... the percentage of their home support who live locally to the team. Wow! What a great idea! Supporters who walk 10 minutes to the ground are OBVIOUSLY more important/fanatical/TRUE than those fans who are quite happy to make a 400 mile round trip to see their team play, despite the fact that they cannot win the Premiership anymore, and the game therefore has very little relevance.

Honestly, it actually makes me quite proud that the only way people find they can slag off Man Utd is by complaining that a lot of the supporters don't live in Manchester! What a laugh!

"Man United are the most widely supported football team in the world. They have more fans worldwide than any other team."

"Ah, they're ****e then, because most of their fans don't come from Manchester!"

Get real!!! How stupid does this sound?

Oh, and while I'm at it since when did "We're disappointed not to have won any trophies this season" mean "We have a divine right to win a trophy every season"?
We've just had our worst season for a decade, and because we're disappointed, we're ARROGANT? Liverpool didn't win anything this season either, and I bet their fans are disappointed too.

And lastly... next season.
Will we be disappointed if we don't win the Premiership? Yes.
Will we be disappointed if we don't win the F.A. Cup? Yes.
Will we be disappointed if we don't win the Champions League? Yes.
Will we be disappointed if we don't win the Worthington Cup? Err, well, no.

But I don't think we have a "divine right" to win any of them. If we're the best team in the competitions, putting out the best performances, we will win. Like Arsenal did this season.

Oh, and can somebody remind me WHY the Premiership now has 4 Champions League berths?

David H.
