Legally? I've an idea who it is, but it's an old bloke, so not eager to go wading in, will police do anything?

Catch him on a dark night and break his knees with a baseball bat and then `key` his wrinkly old face

Police won`t give a monkeys mate

i had the exact same problem when we lived in London

old boy would scratch cars as he walked his dog early in the morning

I, together with the next door neighbour, workout he only did to what he considered badly parked cars – and we caught him doing it (but he did not see us)

We reported it to the local police – who were brilliant, they set up a sting operation (they hid in a van) one morning and caught him – he had a nail clenched in the hand etc

Prosecuted him too – he did not do it again after that

Approach him and apologise for upsetting his mrs, its the only logical thing to do, even if you are in the right and have to do it through gritted teeth.

If you know where he lives, sign him upto as much spam post as possible. The specific subject matter of said spam is your own choice dependant on the severity of the issue.

Or move the CCTV.

Had someone do this to my car once.
Spoke to a mate and low and behold the guy who had done my car had every panel scratched and a lump of concrete deposited on the roof to the point I never saw his car again as it was written off.I think his hire car was also scratched, whilst waiting for his insurance to sort things out for him.
I can only put this down to coincidence.!!

This is awful. How can you tolerate this? It must cost you a fortune in repairs let alone the stress in anticipation of when the next scratch appears..
Post dog **** through his letter box and brick his windows! I do not condone crime but this guy needs to taste his own medicine.
Jesus!

Try to catch him in the act somehow, either with a few people or on film. Also, you said a neighbour had seen him do it? Use that as well. The more witnesses the better. You'll be laughing your **** off when you get him done and he has to fork out damages. Stupid old c*nt! I must say, I've never heard of old people keying cars before, yet here there are two reports of it in the same thread!

id try getting him on camera 1st, then once youve got proof tell him you have and you want the damage paying for or youll take him to small claims court etc, bit of blackmailing never hurt anyone, then wrap his walking twig round his ankles :-)

It's interesting to read how some people seem to think the best solution to someone scratching a car is violence Very brave, especially against a supposed old man!

This place is very strange sometimes.

Get the cops to sort it, you'll zero sympathy from the law if you get physical
