Default JJB Sports in Trouble (well, more trouble than usual)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-19420392

It's been on the brink for some time but it looks like it might fall over this time.

David McCorquodale, corporate finance partner at KPMG, who is leading the JJB sale process, said: "While it is very early days, I anticipate significant interest in the opportunity to acquire this leading multichannel authentic sports retailer.
"There is a real place on the British High Street for a retailer of performance gear for the sports enthusiast."
Really? The last time I went in one, it seemed to be more casual clothing with sporting brand logos on rather than sport specific gear. It's like Sports Direct - seems to be 90% clothing like hoodies and stuff. If I want "proper" running gear, I'll be off to my local independent (Bourne Sports) or Decathlon.

Does anyone actually go there for sports equipment?

Nope.

Last time I was in there was only because I was given some gift vouchers and bought a pair of mcKenzie shorts...hardly proper sportsware.

Got my ck knickers from there £8 a pair!

Needed some new running trainers, needed the exact type - asics high arch and they were £60. I don't buy any nasty trousers or tops from there

I buy cheap and nasty sports socks at places like this but that's about it! "Up and running" for shoes, wiggle for most of my other stuff.

Bought my son a pair of rugby boots from there last week.

No staff 'available' to find us a pair of size 1, £30 boots we wanted.

Luckily, we spotted a pair of Gilbert's in a box on the floor at half price. (£14.99) so we had those instead

Generally a crap shop..... I won't miss it.

If I want anything sport related, i.e. trainers, football tops, shorts etc. I don't really even consider JJB as there's a Sports Direct on the highstreet too. Cheaper aswell.

Same here. Although as time goes by, even Sports Direct isn't as cheap any more.

Only ever bought from there once. Got some Lonsdale undercrackers £6 for two pairs, 2x2 pairs for £9. Not bad for mens trunk style with Lycra
