fresh fruit soda bread
me mam baked some (well griddled really) today. still warm as well. with a mug of tea and some golden cow butter..........does it get any better. all say ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
very few in truth do (or can be bothered) to make/bake traditional irish fare. she is 70 and still makes my dad a cooked meal every night. she still loves to bake and i am forever getting apple tart, rhubarb tart, soda, potato bread, scones. makes her own jam and a cracking marmalade btw as well. only son still here in belfast and as a true mammy's boy I get spoilt. Not that I am complaining mind.

You let your 70 year old mother wash your car!?!?!!?
I hope she is charging you plenty in rent.....
My wife is turning out to be like that, (although she is a foreigner - imported from Berkshire), all our food including that for the kids is cooked from raw ingredients. Have a cupboard full of jams which are various combos of strawberry, plum, raspberry and apple, all grown in my garden, all made by the lovely Mrs T.

my granny used to make soda & treacle bread, even potato apple bread sometimes, she was in her 90's when she died and had catteracks (sp - those things that cover your eye *****) but still used to bake at least once a week, she also make tea with leaves that would of put a builder to shame
