Its in your face and based on factual events .

All the Underbelly series have been great especially series 2 and 3. Gritty, well paced and better than most of the sh1te on UK TV.

Been watching it my self.

The makers of underbelly also did a different series a few months ago called Bikie Wars.

Had one of the actors from the first series of underbelly, it was basically like Sons of Anarchy but based on real events.

 

East West 101 another great Aussie series if you can find it.
