Thumbs down How much?!

Just (typically) had the aircon go on my wife's car (newish Hi-Lux) just as the temperatures break 20. Just at a time when my car is down getting the 2.1 sorted. Popped down to the stealers for a gas up etc. "Sorry sir the xxxxxx has gone." Something about a compressor/clutch.

I have a Toyota warranty that I extended just this last month (£800) so I was not too worried but the final cost of the job astounded me.

How much? £1500, just for parts. F*** me.

You would be amazed at the mark up on parts. I wouldn't be surprised if they cost the garage £500! You know they are going to charge full whack as they claim it back against the warranty insurance company.

Toyotas have loads of problems with air-con, land-cruisers are terrible for it 4 year old cars often needing thousands spent, usually just because the dealer cannot find a small leak so replace most of the system.

When I said I had a warranty to the technician his face literally lit up - he knew he was going big with the final price. At least the warranty has paid for itself.

Once had a powersteering pump go on my old Jag and that came to a similar cost, but you half-expect that with a Jag. But a workhorse Toyota pick up? Mmm, no.
