I suffer from bad mouth ulcers from time to time despite good oral hygine (no puns!) They usually come in numbers and when the old immune system is low for whatever reason. Does anyone know their grans secret cure or pain relieving remidy cause these things are murder!

Before you start, excessive booze is not a viable cure Besides tried that one

I had the same problem once. It got so bad it was almost permanent. This went on for two years and got so bad at times I could hardly talk.

There is no magic cure once obvious things have been eliminated. After a blood test confirmed there were no problems (vitamin deficiencies ?),I tried all the products under the sun, to no avail.

My Doctor just said it was bad diet, stress, smoking, too much booze, lack of sleep etc. Some people can suffer a life-long problem without getting to the bottom of it.

Anyway, I put it down to stress as when I stopped driving 300 miles a day to get to work and back, they gradually disappeared.

Unhappy

Have a similar problem myself m8. At certain times of the year, every year since I was a kid, I can get sometimes 4 or 5 really bad ones. I'm that used to it now I hardly notice when I only have 1 or 2 (unless they're particularly bad).

When you start getting them, take multivitamins, or vitamin B & D for a few days, that sometimes helps. If you take them all the times the ulcers seem to become resistant to the extra vits and will come back in time! If you get bad ones try Anbesol liquid, that numbs them enough for you to eat a meal, but hurts like hell. Make sure your mam ain't in the room when you use it as you will turn the air blue Also chloraseptic (sp?) spray is handy for carrying around and numbing em, and doesn't hurt at all. Wears off after a few minutes though.

I reckon it's diet related though, a nutrition deficiency of some sort. Too much beer and pizza.

Cheers for the advice lads, you've given me some things to try. The most sure fire way to get one is if you accidently bite the side of your mouth when eating. You just know that a few days later you'll have an ulcer in place of the wound.

You can get an adult version of Bonjela - sorry I can't remember what it is called - this works well.

I had it recommended when my wisdom teeth were coming through and it does the trick.

Boots will be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks

Gavin

You could try Corlan pellets, available without prescrition.
I use these when I get an ulcer and they work pretty well (for me).

You need more sleep and try using Anbesol. (Remember Anbesol not Anusol!!!)

Oh and next time be careful what you put in your mouth!!
